Whoever set up the wireless gave it a password to get onto it?Do u recall the program asking if u wanted a default password?
which the computer program generates automatically, then records it somewhere.

How do i make my wireless connection secure

change the settings in the router set-up utility...
Open INTERNET EXPLORER and. (In the URL address field), enter the IP address for your wireless router ( the DEFAULT GATEWAY. This information should be contained in your router's manual. If you cannot find it, enter "198.168.1.1" as the address. This is usually the default IP address for most routers.do not type "www" just the number
Enter the username and password for your router. This should also be supplied in the router's manual. If you don't have this information, go to routerpasswords.com and find the brand and model of your router. This site lists the default login information for most wireless routers you can try "ADMIN" for user name and "PASSWORD" for passsword.
You should now be able to see your wireless router settings. You can configure your network ports, as well as SSID (wireless network name) and passwords.
choose WPA or WPA2 for the security type- and to make your connection more secure you can "not broadcast the signal" and/or assign MAC addressing.

first connect your router to computer with ethernet cable.
Then you can access it with defaults ip
http://192.168.15.1
if you can't access it then you have to reset router.
for that you can find reset button in back side of router.
Press it for 10 seconds .
Then you can access it with 192.168.15.1
If it ask for user type as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then go to wi fi security and check wep code it is your passsword to connect internet you can also set new password there.
Let me know if you need more assistance.
Thanks.

Ican find the wireless router from ny laptop but i cant connect to it

For clarification, what OS are you using? If you are using Windows 2000 or later, it should ask you for a WEP key and the SSID. Both of these numbers are available on the bottom of your router if it was provide by your ISP (such as with Verizon, Comcast or Time Warner).

Wireless router

Have you tried getting into the router setting via the ip ( 192.168.1.1 ) It should ask you for a name and password. Linksys usually uses ( admin, admin ) as name and passsword. sometimes its blank for name and admin for password. Look on the bottom of the router it usually tells you there. Also, you could call there tech support, they helped me alot one time in my early days, they spent like 20 minutes helping me.

Im not familiar with mac so i dont know if this helped at all.
