If there is a problem with the amp you should be able to smell a really bad burnt smell from the transistors being fried. If you can't smell a burnt metal smell your amp should still be fine.

You need power from the battery, a good solid ground to the chassis or the seat belt bolt that goes to the amp, and the remote lead from your head unit to go to the amp.

If you have a volt meter. Turn your key on so your head unit turns on, and probe the B+ and GRD on your amp to make sure you are getting 12 volts or more to your amp. If it doesn't read anything, your amp is fried.

You had a short circuit.... you need to check the fuse of your amp if it is blown then replace it.. otherwise replace the cable if it is burnt and check your amp carefully

Car Power Amp not truning on for 60 to 120 seconds in cold weaher

could be internal problem with the amp, but there is a possibility it is something else. Are there other amps in your car? Do they turn on quickly? If this is the only amp, try the following:
- disconnect turn-on lead from amp (blue wire?)
- turn on stereo (volume normal or low)
- use small piece of wire to connect 12V terminal to turn-on terminal.
you can just touch the wire to the terminals - paper clip will work, too.
- if the amp still takes forever to power up, then the problem is internal to the amp.
- if the amp powers up right away, the problem could be in the turn-on output from your head unit. You can resolve this by using a relay, or by using the ACC output from the ignition (red wire at radio wiring harness) to turn on the amp.

I own a Orion CO5001 Car amp along with 2 2ohm speakers

There's a problem with the wiring. you popped the fuse/breaker in the amp. Replace the fuse or reset the breaker whichever the amp uses and then check your wiring. then try the amp again.

Just take your time with it. I've made my share of stupid wiring mistakes and have lost an amp or two because of it. So be careful! If you can't find the problem, ask a buddy to look it over for you. He might spot it. Other than that I'd say the amp is bad.

i can make this relatively simple.
2 stages:
Stage (1) wiring the Sub inside the box;
Unscrew the SUB from the Box, (& undo the wires)
Connect both +Positive terminals on the SUB to the +Positive terminal on the inside of your BOX.
Connect both -Negative terminals on the SUB to the -Negative terminal on the inside of your Box,
Then screw the SUB back into the Box.
u Have just wired yr sub in parallel. any Amplifier will see it as 1woofer with 1OHMs resistance.

Stage (2) bridging your amp
(please check Amplifier instructions on which terminals to use)
generally you use "LEFT -Negative" and
"Right +Positive"
and connect to the corresponding terminals on the Sub Box.
Hope that helps someone.

Orion hcca 12d subwoofer wiring

I had two of those they are awsome subs! anyway your best to connect them in parallel that is both positive wires connected together and both negative wires connected together then connect pos and neg to amp in a bridged configuration if its a 4 channel amp - this will put your subs under a 2ohm load and make sure you turn down gain and set your filter to low pass (very important!) turn up gain in increments till your happy :) rock on!

Help me...

If you had 4 single voice coil speakers you can create either of those 2 ohm or 4 ohm setups. If you run 2 of them in parallel you will get the 4 ohms. If you run 4 of them in parallel you will get the 2 ohms. In parallel I mean that you connect the positives together and run them to the positive on the amp and the connect the negatives together and run them to the negative on the amp. Let me know if you need more help. Good Luck.

Orion 6004 connection problems

It should be wired up like below:
  • +12V to the battery (through an inline fuse).
  • Ground to a good, close point on the chassis.
  • REM to the remote turn-on of the head unit.
Remove the connections to the speakers and see if the issue still exists. If it doesn't, reconnect the speaker connections and find out which one causes the amp to go into protect mode.

*amp to sub wiring help...

The 2500D has 2 "+" and 2 "-" power connections to help split the current between two smaller wires vs. one giant, hard to route wire. According the manual, for optimal performance, both "+" and "-" power connections should be utilized. They also recommend using 4AWG wire for these connections.

The 2 "+" and "-" speakers connections are only there to simplify the wiring of multiple speakers into the amp. Both "+" get tied together inside the amp, as do both "-" connections. In this case, with the dual 2 ohm voice coils on your 12" sub, you would wire one voice coil to one +/- set on the amp and the other voice coil to the other +/- set.
