Question about Canon ZR200 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Some capstan or other tape guide maybe out of position, or another problem is occurring with the tape cartridge. The unit will have to be checked and cleaned first, then possibly serviced.
Here is an exerpt from "camsbargains.com":
My cannon ZR200 digital camcorder won't accept its tapes. What could I be doing wrong and how do I fix it? Jul 24, 2007 by Nate Dawg | Posted in Camcorders
I don't know if it is the tape I'm using or what, but when I put it in it closes for about 5 seconds then rejects it. I don't know what is wrong because it just started doing this recently.
The most likely cause is either something (a piece of dirt or something) is stuck in the tape deck, or a small piece of metal is bent. It also might be caused by moisture in the tapes, but if you let them sit inside for an hour, they should be fine. If you can see something, try to pull it out, otherwise take it to a dealer and have them take a look.
Try to blow the tape cartridge out with compressed air to try to free any obstruction, that's about all one can do without having it serviced. Get an estimate first, since the cost of repair can be high. Good luck, and hope this helps.
