Question about American Standard Model 2373.801: Enfield Satin Nickel Widespread Faucet

1 Answer

I have an American Standard bathroom faucet that I am trying to replace. It has 3 seperate pieces on top, but is bottom mounted with a 1 piece system. There is nothing under the sink that can be used to take the faucet off. (There is a threaded tube under there, but no way to attach any wrench.) I have several problems removing the handles above the sink. I easily seperated the hot handle and main part of the body, but I couldn't get to the clip inside the bottom portion of the handle. That bottom portion just spun without threads. I ended up hacksawing, if you can believe that, the bottom piece and was then able to remove the clip. Unfortunately, I cannot unscrew the cold faucet handle/body. And i can't unswrew the filler from its bottom piece either. There must be a trick that I'm missing. Here is a link to the install instructions. I'm not sure if it's exactly your model, but should be same Idea. The spout should come out the top, the rest out the bottom. http://www.americanstandard-us.com/assets/documents/amstd/install/Install_1451.pdf

How do remove the screen on an American standard bathroom faucet?

Simply unscrew the end of the tap where the screen is. Some faucet models have a small hole just above the screen where you insert a pin that locks the parts together so they can be unscrewed in the counterclock rotation.

I think you might need a handle remover tool. It looks like two "L"'s facing each other with a long screw going through the top of the two L's . With a T handle at the top. The two L's go up under the bottom of the faucet handle, and the long screw fits into the screw hole for the faucet handle. A dozen turns or so and the handle pops off the valve stem. Cost about 10-15 dollars at any hardware store. hope this helps.

Hi, TYhe instructions for both models are the same. The 2 different methods of installation/uninstallation in the instructions refer to whether or not an escutcheon was used when installed. The escutcheon is the chrome piece that encircles the faucet and fits on the sink. So, if you have just a bare, chrome tube entering the sink, there is no escutcheon.

I hope this helps. Please click a vote for me if it does.

Can't remove lever hadle to replace cartridge. no set screw how do i remove the handle? i think it is a moticello. if not it has 4" centers with lever handle and it cost about $90.00 3 years ago.

the lever handle on that faucet is two pieces, it seperates at the top of the big round part. Hold the big round part with one hand and unscrew the smaller round piece out of the top of it. You must turn the small round part, turning the handle will do no good.

Bathroom sink needs new drain, leaks under counter

Is it a new sink? Most of the time if it's new you'll have to get more pvc pipe because the new tail piece that comes with the new faucets usually is either longer than before or shorter. Yes you can get another tail piece or you may be able to by a longer pvc piece to to hook up the the metal tail piece. Make sure you have the plastic seals inside the pipe where they attach together or it will leak. Once you have it all together close your stopper and fill the sink with water and then pull the sink stopper and watch for leaks if it dont leak then it wont leak.

Water Tank Will Not Stop Running Water

the reason your water keeps running is because the float has not closed of the valve in the stem on the left side. a quick fix is i take the rod that has the float on it and bend it down a little. i also make sure that the plug that fits over the drain seats properly alot of times through age the plug tends to harden up and not seat properly. if you cant get it to seat replace it. if your model has an adjustment screw on the valve body try adjusting that as well.......good luck please rate this
