Unplug the Ref for 15-20 min., plug it back in and listen for the compressor to start. You will need to be behind the Ref so you can tell if the compressor or the fan is running. It will help to take the cover off so you can see the compressor.
Compressor not running but you hear a clicking noise. The relay needs to be replaced.
Compressor runs but not cooling. Low on coolant

Good to see you put your model number down correctly. Do the lights come on inside when you open door? I noticed your refrigerator has a control board inside the fresh food section behind the control panel I want you to unplug the refrigerator and examine that board for burn marks or loose solder connections on both Sides. Then let me know what you find. Thanks, Sea breeze My email is appliancepsrtsse@yahoo.com Web Site http://servicepartstec.blogspot.com/ Part Number for Control board is 8201528

Is there a recall on Kenmore coldspot model# 10671192100 mfg date 01/02? it doesn't keep food in the frig cold.

Check out the self defrosting mechanism on unit. could have a bad defrost timer and/or defrost element. Also check the damper control that sends cold air from freezer into the refrigerator compartment. If set too low your refrig will be warmer. Also check the thermostat setting and operation.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

Frist off the un-plug routine for 3 days can be accomplished with a fan blowing into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. (I.e. a manual defrost) Why they told you 3 days... vs using a fan is absurd.

Now for your defrosting problem. Lets try to manually initiate a NORMAL defrost cycle that should take 45 mins or less to complete.
Using this link:

locate item 6. (Adaptive Defrost timer)... It will be in the overhead of the fresh food compartment. (Your probably going to need some one with some mechanical skills) Gain access to the defrost timer. (Yes you have to take things apart) To put this board into defrost, short "L1" and "Test" with a small screwdriver and wait three to 8 seconds. You should hear a clicking noise from the relay and the uint will shut off except for the lights and go through a defrost cycle. This cycle should terminate in 45 minutes or less. If it does terminate there is either a problem with the defrost themostat or the defrost element. You should hear some hissing after about 10 minutes as the evaporated ice turns to water and drips onto the glass tube of the defrost heating element.
No hiss or heat from the heating element = failed element or defreost thermostat.

If the defrost cycle never terminates.... the defrost thermostat is bad. You should be able to terminate the defrost cycle yourself after an hour by simply unplugging the unit for about 10 minutes.

If it does not even cycle into defrost after a few attempts of shorting J1 and Test the adaptive defrost control has most likely failed.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

My Kenmore side by side freezer stopped working for a day, all the frozen foods defrosted, then it started working again the next day. I have an appt. for Sears to come, but should I cancel?

The fact it stopped freezing to the point that your food thawed is a definite problem you need to have inspected. But keep in my mind, you apparently have an intermittent issue, and if you give your refrigerator repair service technician as many details about what you noticed in regards to your temperatures as you can, he should be able to pinpoint your problem if he knows what he is doing.

Have kenmore coldspot model # 106 manufactured 08/97 that drain is not operating bottom of freezer ices over no matter what temp.is set at

Need the complete model number for this unit, but I am going to guess that you have a defrost problem with the freezer, more than a drain issue.

Model 596.73502203 Making intermittant buzzing sound. Moisture on inside of fridge and freezer. Food in freezer is thawing out.

I believe that your refrigerator may need a new 12002495 or 1184282 Adaptive Defrost Control You can find it inside the fresh food section and behind the controls for temperature. Not sure about the buzzing sound yet but the moisture and thawing of the frozen food points to a defrost problem. Need you to unplug and have a look at the adaptive defrost control. Would not hurt to open the back panel in the rear of freezer and defrost if needed and need someone to check the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Sea Breeze

Sears Kenmore ColdSpot Frostfree Frosting up/Not working

You have a defrost problem. You need to determine which one of the parts is faulty. The defrost timer on that model should be behind the kick plate in the center front underneath. If you turn the little knob by hand you will hear a load click when it gets to the defrost point and the unit should shut off. Check in the bottom of the freezer to listen for water sizzleing or for water running down. If it is the timer is not advancing and needs replaced. If not you will have to take the back off the inside of the freezer to see if it is the heater or the defrost thermostat. Unhook power before taking panel off or replacing any parts.
