Get no voltage from selenoid to starter

Probably a safety switch, the ignition switch send electricity through a few safety switches on the way to the solenoid, neutral, brake on and deck off is what it is checking for .If you unplug the little wire on the solenoid and touch a wire from the pos + battery terminal of the battery to the spade on the solenoid it should turn over , and prove the solenoid is good or not.

Have a Troy built bronco riding mower juice the selinoid but not out to the starter

The solenoid has two battery cables on it, one to the positive of the battery and the other to the starter. There is also a little wire on it that when electricity is supplied to it it should connect the two cables together internally in the solenoid. The little wire comes from the key switch through safety switches like on the seat and clutch brake pedal . A cheap quick test is to take a short piece of wire and touch the cable coming from the battery to the little wire terminal on the solenoid if it makes the starter work it is probably a safety switch or key switch issue not a bad solenoid or starter.

Sounds like your battery cables on the starter is not working and needs replacing. i had a loose cable and would not work.Your solenoid may be bad as well.

Craftsman mower deck engaging intermitantly

I believe I would start by looking at the grounding for the solenoid(clutch) sounds like that it may be intermittent. Or the spring assembly that physically engages the assembly on the deck my be dirty or need a lubricant and a cleaning or both. Good Luck

Riding mower with 26hp briggs and stratton motor runs about 20 to 30 minutes thens cuts out

It sounds electrical in nature check the solenoid for continuity, check your key switch it may be bad also, check the spark plug wires and the part they hook into. Look for melted wires and replace as needed.

I have a yard machines 46 inch cut 18.5 hp riding mower that wont start. i changed ignition swith and soleniod. if i cross wires on solenoid it will start after putting gas in carb. it runs till gas runs...

I would start with the safty switches. Look for them on the deck engager, seat??, break/clutch pedel, blade engager lever. Remember the blade sw. must be disengaged be fore it will start. Ifit runs as you said It is in the wiring/ electrical system. I know it is not in the ignition sw. or seloniod. szm230

Solenoid wires to be replaced

I posted this for a similar question.

The large red cable from the battery should go to the large terminal on one side of the solenoid. The opposite side of the battery solenoid connection goes to the starter So now you have a heavy cable going from the battery to one side of the solenoid and another heavy cable (red) going to the starter connection. There should also be a small wire coming from the ignition switch to the small terminal on solenoid. If there are two small terminals on solenoid, ground the other one. To test the ignition switch, just turn the key and see if you get 12 volts, then you know that part is good. If not, check your ignition switch. So, back to the solenoid-----. If there are two small solenoid terminals with nuts for wires on the solenoid then the wires could be mixed up. So just reverse the two small wires and try again.

You would think they would make things easy and say on the solenoid, Battery connection here, and Starter connection here, and ignition switch wire here, but no, just nothing for the most part.

So now remember this is nothing more than a lightswitch type of a mechanism where instead of using your finger to flick the switch, we are using a small electric charge to momentarily close the light switch, in this case the starter motor, same idea.

with switch off try crossing out the solenoid. take an old screwdriver and place it on the two metal contacts jetting out from the solenoid usually by the battery or close to the ignition. if strarter engages when this is donr replace solenoid. if not replace starter. hope this helps.
