It sounds to me that u are using windows_vista ?? Vista has to have its OWN o/s software\programs made specially for it!
TRYOUT::turn off all virus scanning software, firewalls, etc, etc, EVERYTHING that loads automatically .One way is to wait after u turn on the computer.wait!, wait!, then close everything that sits on the bottom of the right screen.Connect your Linksys so that your o/s sees it., Load the drivers AFTER that, then see what happens.
TRYOUT 2:: goto [start]bottom left of screen (no!, the other left!!)ONLY KIDDING! [run] msconfig, select "secective startup", UNcheck everything that looks like it is protecting your computer.[reboot] then follow TRYOUT_1
GOOD LUCK, jardy

I cannot hookup my osx mac computer to the wireless at&t internet service i have set up in my home. The other 3 computers in our home do work (including another mac). We have called at&t tech...

What we really need is more information on the router. Do you know how the other computers connect to the wireless? Do you know if you had to have a password in order to connect? If you never did anything to the Linksys router to set it up, you can login to the router by opening Internet Explorer and browsing to 192.168.1.1. It will ask you for a login name and password. By default the name is blank and the password is "admin". If you look at the wireless settings you should be able to see the wireless settings, like the wireless name (again, by default the name is Linksys), what kind (if any) of encryption is used, etc.

Well i had just bought a lynksys router from my friend with no software cd so right now i am trying to download the software online so when i switch my cox modem with the linksys modem i want the software...

You should be able to get any software that you need from LinkSys.com but I have a couple of quick questions first:

1. Is the LinkSys unit you just purchased a router or modem?

If the unit is a router, you are still going to need a Cox compatible modem. If the unit is a modem, you will still need a router to complete the network setup unless LinkSys makes a combination cable router/modem, and I haven't been able to research one.

2. If it is a modem, is it a cable modem and, if it is, is it Cox compatible?

According to the Cox Web Site, the only models of LinkSys modems that are currently compatible with the Cox High Speed Cable Internet Service are:

BEFCMU10 v3
BEFCMU10 v4
WCG200
WCG200 v2
CM100

In this particular case, you may need to contact LinkSys and/or your Internet Service Provider. In most cases, they will not only tell you exactly what type of equipment you need, they will also talk you through setting up the network once you have the equipment - usually at no charge.

I can,t set up my linksys it won,t work . Help !! I got another Laptop

You will need to provide a better description such as the model number of your Linksys. If it is a Linksys router or WAP you can point your browser to http://192.168.1.1/ and enter in your login information. If this is the first time you've attempted to login to the Linksys router/WAP the default login is either blank or "admin" and the password is "admin".

My WRT54G2 Linksys router is not recognized by my computer at the end of the installation CD.

router is not a system device that is why you cant see your router on your computer, if your referring about the linksys installation disk this will guide you to setup your router to manage all your device that you want to connect to it. to see the router you need to connect your computer to your router using a ethernet cable on the lan port and run the linksys disk and it will walk you thru the setup of your router

I have a Mac. Just bout a linksys router. Cannot play set up cd. What should I do?

Don't use the setup CD. It can cause a mess anyways if your computer could read it. Just plug the router into your mode using the correct jack. If you need to any admin work on the modem, the default IP address is:

http://192.168.0.1

user id is admin
password is linksys

The instructions on the router are explained on the right side of the screen.

If you want a manual you can go to linksys.com and call up your model number on your router and download the user manual that way.

Hooking up Linksys router to my Mac OSX, last step according to web page help is to enter ISP's settings and name it. Suppose to go to http://192.168.1.1 using password 'admin'. Cannot find where to do...

Is the router plugged into your mac? it has to be to get into that address, its a private address. You want to hook up all the cables then tell the mac to acquire a new IP or reboot it to get the new ip, then you should be able to enter that IP address and be brought into the linksys setup page.

Wireless g wrt54g router

First of all, are you connecting with a PC or a Notebook?

If you have the Linksys router, you should replace the MS utility with the Linksys utility it figures your linksys wireless lan card
There are programs you can use to keep track of your router and connections...One such program is called Port Mapper...

http://3d2f.com/programs/34-197-port-mapper-download.shtml

Does your problem happen everday...or every 3 weeks...are you doing anything in particular when you are getting the inability to use the connection?
There is a new Vista patch out there I recommend downloading.
