It depends. If your computer has the correct device-drivers for the wireless adapter, then the lamp will light. If not, the lamp will not light up.

Cant get my wireless to go on

if you can not connect wirelessly to the router. It transpired that the internal aerial had become detached. You could have that problem or it could be worse, that your adaptor has just failed. Have a look at this site which tells you where the wireless adaptor is located http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/advent/laptop/7110.htm . Also, some laptops have a wireless switch on the side of the case so that is worth checking for.

If the worst comes to the worst you can always get an inexpensive USB wireless adaptor.

Hp pavilion dv 9700 screen won't come on. Is this a video card issue? And how can I tell if it's a video problem or a hard drive problem?

If the screen is coming on but is dim, it can be an lcd or an inverter problem.

If your getting absolutely no video then you need to try a few things. Take out the battery and only hook up the ac adaptor and make sure the light is at least coming on the ac adaptor so you know for a fact the adaptor is working. Then take out the memory and reinsert each memory stick one at a time and after each stick reinsertion turn on the laptop and see if you get video.

If you don't then take out the hard drive then try again turning on the laptop and then finally take out dvd drive. If your still not geting video then the motherboard is definitely bad.

Wireless not working

Hello Kerry,

I think your wireless LAN switch is probably turned off. Most laptops these days come with these switches so that we can conserve battery by turning them off when not needed. It would look like this

Just slide it to the other side and your wireless ill be on.

Cannot setup WPA2 on WUSB54G & WPC11 adaptors

This is because those wireless adapters that you mentioned do not support for WPA2. Linksys will not release drivers for those adapters that will make it work with WPA2 because they are already discontinued. So the only other option is to stick with WPA or WEP

No wifi

You need to get a wireless adaptor your laptop did not come with wireless built in. You can get a USB adaptor or a PCMCIA adaptor. Either will work but the pcmcia adaptor will be a little faster

Have a look here

Hope that helps

Suggested Laptop Wireless Adapter For HIGH SPEED INTERNET

I would go with card slot adapters, you can find many different ones but I used Dynex 802.11G card even running Win98, I've seen then cheap on sites like eBay. You can use acble and wireless at the same time and with 6MP, you will not notice any speed loss unless you are running live feeds on all 3 computer
