Question about Dometic Refrigerators

1 Answer

Dometic RC3000EGP quit cooling, completely. I believe the refrigerant has leaked. Yellowish residue. I have always vacuumed back, wiped with a damp cloth and totally cleaned the unit after use. I have only used the unit once or twice a year to a fly-in fishing trip. Worked great, electric at home, car plug-in on the road and propane when we arrived in camp. Help!

SOURCE: Freezer and refrigerator run but is not cold

Remove the back panel at the bottom. The refrigeration system is a sealed system and the smell would not come from it internally. Check and make sure the fan motor is running. If the fan motor (was) shorted out it would account for the reseting of the breaker. After resetting the breaker a number of times would cause the circuit in the fan motor to open allowing the compressor to run. Is the small line coming out of the compressor hot? If so replacing the defective fan motor may correct your problem.

SOURCE: bottom,(refrigerator) isn't cooling at all. the freezer is 20 below zero. what's wrong?

The thermister is located in the fridge. Verify it is clipped to the metal fin Think of this as a knob control move it up and down to control the fridge temp. If this does not help most likely you need a new thermister.

SOURCE: Dometic NDR 1292 does not cool

Check to see if your boiler tube is hot. If it is , your cooling unit is shot. Do not plug your circuit board into 110 volt power that will destroy it. To test your heating elements you need to do an ohms reading on the elements. But I can tell you from experience if your boiler tube/ this is the 3-4" diameter sheet metal tube going up the back of the refer/ is hot the cooling unit is no good. If you would like to discuss your diagnostics give me a call.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore refrigerator not cooling

You will need to replace the heating element, if it looks blacken, then it's not good. When good, it's a clear glass tubing with a coil that heats up. Call Sears for parts.

Rm2652 barely is cool to the touch in the freezer and hardly nothing in fridge on electric and does nothing with LP gas...... Why?

If you can hear the coils "circulating" you have a leak in your cooling unit. If you can hear a boiling like sound from the cooling unit it is a tell tail sign that the unit is bad and needs replaced. If you take a look through the access vent on the rear of the fridge you will more then likely see the yellowish residue located around the burner area. This is the common spot for these models to leak. The unit can be easily replaced within just a hour or two with no specialized tools or previous knowledge required. I will attache a copy of our RM2652 installation instructions to view, Please contact Arcticold for your New replacement cooling unit with a Lifetime warranty. 1-888-782-6665 Our Online Store

Ammonia lock not cooling

If the RV is level and the cooling unit is warm on the back then you will require a replacement cooling unit. That model is known for leaking just above the burner area. If it has leaked, you will see a yellowish residue around the burner area. The new replacement cooling unit can be purchased online from Arcticold at www.arcticoldStore.com f888c3dc-0ecd-41ec-a155-cbfc5c35b381.jpg ArctiCold Refrigeration We keep it cold 426ce77e-4e27-4bd2-a718-09ab55e70951.jpg

Refrigerator not cooling on electricty or gas

You will first want to ensure the RV is level.
If the RV is level, then open the rear access vent door on the side of the RV to access the rear of the refrigerator. Feel the coils just above the tank on the cooling system. These coils should be warm to the touch. If they are warm and the refrigerator is not cooling then you will require a replacement cooling unit. Also, the most common area for the Dometic 2652 to leak is just above the propane burner area. If it has leaked, you should see a yellow residue in that area. The cooling unit can be changed in approximately 2-3 hours with no specialized tools needed (Arcticold offers 7 day a week free tech support). The old cooling unit will simply unbolt and the new one bolts in. Check out ArctiCold Refrigeration We keep it cold (the highest quality product available) Arcticold New Cooling units come standard with a Lifetime Warranty. Install instructions are also provided with the cooling unit. Arcticold has locations across North America to provide fast delivery. Dometic DM2652 quit working on elec, tried gas worked for a little than quit, wont cool can hear it running.

If you can hear it running and it sounds like it is gurgling or boiling then it is you cooling unit that has leaked. Your cooling unit is charged with hydrogen and ammonia. When the hydrogen leaks it causes the ammonia to boil more rapidly, hence what you hear. You will require a new cooling unit for your refrigerator. This is something that can be done by anyone in just a few hours with no specialized tools needed. You can give Arcticold a call toll free (1-888-782-6665) or check out our online Store I have also attached a how to video for the installation of a Arcticold New Lifetime Warranty cooling unit. 3a202669-372c-42db-9d46-dcb343b69e0b.jpg

Our rv has a dometic rm2600 fridge that smells of ammonia inside and has a little bit of yellow residue in behind service panel. is the fridge wrecked or is it worth repairing. the rv is 27 years old.

Hi,
Sorry to give you the bad news. The ammonia smell is the the refrigerant
leaking out. Dometic uses ammonia that is heated and then condensed to cool. It will all leak out and quit cooling.
The fridge is wrecked. There are shops that rebuild the units. Beings as ammonia is corrosive one must assume there may be other leaks ready to appear. There are RV salvage yards that sell good used units.
Again Sorry for your loss.

Fridge not cooling

If you look in the outside compartment do you see a yellowish powder? If you do, or if you smell amonia probably the cooling unit has leaked the coolant. It does not help to add coolant, it will just leak out again quickly. You will need a new fridge or to have the cooling unit replaced. If that is the problem, Dometic has a recall on some models for leaks and will pay for a new cooling unit.
