IF you don't release the bit lock, it won't run.

How do I fix a Dremel 4200

I just came across this problem and could not find help online. Dremel wants me to send it to them. Their turn around time is 3 days but that doesn't count the 4 day ship to time nor the 4 day day ship back time.

I cut it off with another super cheap dremel type tool. I would have used a sander or bench grinder if necessary.

After I grinder down to just see the threads I put a flat head screwdriver in and pried it loose and then it twisted off easily.

I then realized what cause it. The plastic housing threads had slightly melted to the metal threads. Dremel bits get hot! The heat works it way to the shafts which in turn works it's way into the plastic.

The dremel can be used without this housing if you completely destroy it. I'm sure you will get by fine since you probably wanted to put an accessory on anyway. You can probably order a replacement in the meantime.

Dremel 3100 won't release the drill bit. Button at the top is pressed in and won't come out.

The button is only to keep the shaft from turning while you loosen the collet (the nut) with the little wrench. THEN the tool comes out.

I need help attaching the new bit to the dremel model 1100

Hi leigh abear...
I will send you to the dremel website where you can watch a video on the dremel model 1100 and it will explain how to use it and change bits, cutters, ect.
Do change your bit without going to the website push down on the large button on top to lock the tool, and then you wil loosen the bit holder bu turning it anticlockwise to loosen the grip on the tool you have in the bit holder.
Please take time to rate me

I have a dremel multipro model 285. How do i get the bit out?

It should have a button on the Dremel itself near the bit the you push while turning the bit with the tool it came with or pliers may work

How do I change the drill tips on the Dremel 370 6 model? Can't find the instructions. Thanks

There should be a shaft lock button near the tip end of the tool and you need a small spanner wrench (included with the tool) that inserts into the collet sleeve hole and is turned CCW (looking at the tool end) to loosen the collet itself. Tap on the tool end lightly to help loosen the bit. Hope this helps!

The motor on my dremel 395 works but the bit doesn't turn

there is a coupling between the motor and the spindle that has probably cracked or stripped out. I suggest going to Dremel.com and getting an original replacement part for this. They are not hard to install.

Changing a bit on my dremel

Depends on the head you have on the tool. If it takes collets, you need to match the collet size to the shaft on the bit. There are I believe 4 different collet sizes.

You have the threaded shaft which is hollow and connected to the tool. then you put the proper sized collet inside that shaft and half of it will stick out. This is what actually holds the bit. Next, you put the 'nut' on the shaft, but don't tighten it yet. Put the bit into the hole in the nut as far as it willl go, then back it out about 1/8 inch. Now you can tighten the nut by holding down the button on the front of the tool until the nut does't turn any more. You can buy a 'nut' that works with any bit, no collets used, for about $10. Home depot, Lowes etc or online.

If you're not sure what I'm talking about, you can probably find pics of collets etc. by going to google images.
It would probably pay to contact Dremel or look online for the manual also.

I can't get the head to open to take out the bit

Unplug it, then while pushing in the little silver button near the head use a wrench on the hex nut and turn counter clockwise about a 1/2 turn. Push the bit in, then pull it out (that releases the little fingers that hold it).

The silver button locks the head so it won't spin while you are changing bits. Always be sure it is released before plugging in or turning on the power.
