Looking at a same unit today...finding that the air gap between the coil and flywheel is insufficient. Check to see if the unit is getting spark, if it is, then there probably is a fuel delivery issue. Gettting to the flywheel/coil is labor intensive and a little tricky if the unit has never been taken apart as ALL the fasteners have red thread-locker LOCTITE on them.

If the same fuel is in it try draining and re filling with fresh fuel, if no better to rule out an ignition issue, spray some fuel oil mix straight down the carb throat, if it fires up it is still a fuel issue.

My 10 year old weedeater hedge trimmer ran fine last year when I put it away for the season. When I tried to start it this year it wouldn't even fire. I put fresh fuel mix in and a new spark plug and...

I would check for spark and check the fuel lines, especially if fuel is left in it. Also if fuel left in you will have to empty the lines and carburetor or pull it enough to clear. Another thing to consider is that if fuel was left in it that the carburetor may need a rebuild, replacing the diaphrams.

I hope this is helpful for you.

Echo srm210, hard starting, runs poorly, acts like it is starving for fuel, dies

I would start by checking the condition of the fuel filter and fuel lines and progress to the carburetor from there. Make sure muffler is clear and air filter is not clogged. Your symptoms have all the signs of a dirty carburetor. Post back after checking condition of fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel lines, muffler, and air cleaner, and spark plug also.

My Gas Powered Ryobi String Trimmer (RY26500B) won't start. What should I try??

Here are the basics. You need: spark, fuel, air, compression, and timing to make it run. Clean the spark plug. Inspect the fuel lines. Are the hard/brittle? Do they connect to the filter in the gas tank? Clean the air filter. When the spark plug is out, put your finger over the opening and gently pull the rope. Do you have compression?
Most common repairs needed are usually fuel lines and carburetor work.

My string trimmer will not start

Possible solutions:
-Kill switch is shorted out-check the wire and connections.
-Buy a new plug.
-Primer bulb needs to be replaced.
-Fuel filter needs to be replaced, and it's located inside the gas tank so it's a bit tricky to replace.
-Try starting it without the air filter attached.

Is it possible an incorrect mix of gas/oil was used (or straight gas) which in turn ruined the motor?

Will not start normally

Your carbeurator has crud in it from leaving gas in it over the winter.
You may be able to clean it using a carbeurator cleaner spray which you spray into the air intake after you remove the air filter, OR by using a gas additive such as seafoam which will clean the carb. as it runs. If you have any old gas in the tank of your weedwacker, discard it. Same goes for your portable gas tank. Gas deteriorates over the winter.

Trimmer puking gas out carb!

You could have a bad pump daiphram, which is holding the needle valve open. You can try rebuilding carb.or just replace carb. that is the easiest way.

Stihl weed eater runs 2min. then stop

Stihl weedeater was running and stopped suddenly. Put in a new fuel filter and cleaner air filter with soap and water. Checked spark plug and it appeared fine. Started the weedeater, ran for a second or so and stopped. Spark plug wasn't gas fouled. Could it be the carburetor needing new diaphram gasket and spring.
