This is a message from the BIOS telling you that it has detected a problem in the launching of the boot - no bootloader was detected. This usually happens when the Network is set as the first device in boot order - change that to the correct way, the hard disk first.
If you have the hard disk set as the first boot device that message means that the hard disk has died. Junk it, buy a new one and reinstall Windows.

acpi.sys is the driver file for the power management - one of the first one that is loaded during boot. This is clear indication that your hard disk has failed - replace it with a new one, nothing more can be done to save it.

  • just4funsew Aug 01, 2010

This is a brand new hard drive that I just put in yesterday. Do I set it to let the hard drive first although there is nothing on it. The acpi.sys is corrupted press any key to continue comes up when I am trying to install Windows XP

  • Azrael SRL Aug 02, 2010

In that case the XP install disk from which you are trying to install is scratched and unusable. Get another one, this one is dead.If you don't have another disk you have a last ditch attempt to make: go into your BIOS and disable ACPI Power Controller; but make sure you have low battery warning enabled. Then try installing again and press F7 where you would normally press F6 to load SCSI drivers; this disables ACPI but after you install and install all your service packs and updates you will still be able to use it

BTW during install you must put the cd first, otherwise the install disk will not be booted. Only after the install has completely finished and you have removed the install disk you put the hd first.

How long have you owned the laptop and how long have you had this problem? what happens when you change the boot order and try to boot to a windows boot disc? I would make sure your hard drive isn't defective/not working.
Thanks,
Lee

I have bought a new hard drive but I do not know how to install it, except for putting it back in the laptop. Also I have the Acer Aspire 3680-2682 not the 7520-5324

If you installed a blank hard drive that would be why it is saying operating system not found. You need to access the bios and set it to boot the cd/dvd rom drive and have a copy of windows in the drive so that it can boot to it and you can install the OS on the hard drive.

  • just4funsew Aug 01, 2010

It was saying that before I replaced the drive. I will try to install Windows again and see what happens then let you know

  • Lee A.
    Lee A. Aug 01, 2010

Windows could have become corrupt. So i would definitely try installing the OS again and make sure the bios is set to boot to the hard drive once you have the OS installed. If/when you find this information helpful please take a moment to accept/rate my solution.
    Thank you and good luck,
    Lee

    Thanks,

First ther was a error message, then the pc make nothing.

If you have a spike in the power, unplug, remove the battery, then hold the power button down for 1min or 60s, to release any built up shock power. then insert the battery, (no power cord) push and hold power button for 1 -2 - 3 s. release and see what happens.. now what OS is installed on the HDD. and check the BIOS to see how the boot sequence is set... seems your error show you set to boot to NetWork not HDD

Hi, When I turn on my Laptop - Acer Aspire 5536, the following writing appears; Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v11 .4.1 Copyright (C) 2000-2008 Broadcom Corporation Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel...

usually, this message means that when your computer is booting it is trying get the operating system files from a network location (shared folder)

what you need to do is to make sure your BIOS is not set to boot from network.

1. when the computer starts, there is a message like "to enter BIOS press Esc" or any other key like F2 or F10
2. in the BIOs settings, make sure the order of the boot is: DVD/CD then hard disk. make sure there is no Network booting in the list

I was using my laptop last night when it just shut down on me, then when i went to turn it back on it goes to the acer "start up" like page before skipping to a black screen and displaying the following...

If you have a BOOT CD then try to boot and go to windows.
Or you can use windows setup CD but go for repair only.
For the future it is a good idea to INSTALL WINDOWS in a USB mini drive and boot the computer from USB. You have to go to BIOS and set USB default drive.
It is a good idea to clone your HD in a CD.

when the logo comes on, press the "tab" key. It should turn the logo off and show you what the computer is doing. This may help:

THIS IS FOR HP AND COMPAQ USERS (it might help others as well)
i had the same problem with my compaq preasrio v6000.
ALL U HAVE TO DO IS
1- START UP UP UR COMPUTER AND PRESS F10
2-GO TO DIAGNOSTICS
3-RUN A HARD DISK TEST
IF IT PASSES THEN YOU JUST NEED TO RE-INSTALL TO YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM
IF NOT YOU WILL HAVE TO CHANGE YOUR HARD DISK.

Or try this:
Go into the BIOS.. Go into the BOOT options.. and hit Shift+1 to disable the Realtek boot option.. pop in the disk you want to boot from.. and make sure you set your boot options to CD-Rom and then HDD.. and just wait.. be patient.. and the blue screen (for booting) will show up! :)

Crashed vista help!

it's look like you have a problem with hdd or motherboard.
basically, your motherboard isnot detecting your hdd.

try to boot and press F2 to go to bios and check your hdd in bios.
if it is takes long time to go to bios. most of the time your hdd is dead.
but it is fast and your hdd isnot detected in bios. it's mean your motherboard is bad.
