Question about Computers & Internet

IWIIL Main Board XP 333- Have been playing on & off with this MB for about 2 yrs tryiing to get it to work. #1 No video at all...Tried using 2 diferent AGP cards and a PCI card;totally blank screen. #2 Tried putting driver disk and Windows XP disk and Win XP emergency start up disk. The drives don't even spin up, although during power on I DO get "working lights" on DVD & CD and Floppy drives. I've checked the jumper setting umerous times, changed the memory as well. Any ideas? The only thing I can think of it a defective board and I doubt it's still under warranty. Thank you George Danchik

I think you have a defective board. The only other thing I can think of to try is flashing the bios. I've seen that bring dead boards back to life occasionally. Don't think you have anything to lose at this point...

You dont need any driver since your PC is configured as x64 bit processor so all you got to do is get hold of the XP OS which is meant for x64 compatible PC's. The one normally used is 32 bit named as x86. I hope u wont face any difficulty in getting hold of x64 based OS(XP)......sodeep

P5S800 board wont post. I have tried with onboard VGA and with video card. It seems the pc wont go to POST. It just beeps continually. 1 long and 2 short. I have reseated the RAM and tried different RAM. I...

That beep code is either a RAM or Video card issue depending on motherboard. It may be that when the fan went down it burnt out the video card slot & onboard video. Without physically seeing the board I couldn't tell for sure, but that is definately what the beep code is pointing to. Also make sure that when you are using a video card that you have the 6, or 8 pin power plug connected to it. As well as making sure both the main 20, or 20+4 psu plug and the 4, or 8 pin psu plug are connected to the mb. Hope this helps.

3 long beep

The Intel motherboard D845GLVA can only run up to 2GB of 184-pin, 2.5 V, DDR266/200 MHz SDRAM. Test the system by inserting only one stick of memory into slot 1 which is closest to the CPU. Boot system & listen for beep code. If no change remove memory & insert into slot 2 & boot system. Listen for beep code. The Intel D845GLVA MB uses the AMI bios. There is no code to match your 3 long beeps.
Click on the link below, scroll down to AMI;
http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

However, you mentioned you loose display when you here the 3 beeps. This is common when a video card is not connected correctly or does not have enough power. Since your MB uses a built-in video card it is very possible that the video controller,
Intel 82845GL Graphics and Memory Controller is going. You can test this theory by buying a PCI video card & installing it into any one of the three PCI slots on the MB. You will not need to enter the MB bios to make any changes. The MB will auto detect the video in the PCI slot & use it over the built -in video. See page 15 in your manual: PCI Auto Configuration.
If you need the manual for your MB you can download it from Intel.
Click on the link;
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=947&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Home+Edition&lang=eng&strOSs=45&submit=Go%21

Any one of the video cards listed on the next link will run in your system;

Good luck!

No signal on monitor

You might try switching the VGA cable if you haven't. If that doesn't work then I'd agree with you in saying the motherboard is likely fried.

OptiPlex GX270 mini tower

Remove the 256mb memory and insert the 512mb memory in slot1 and see whether it works. Please note that the memory needs to be in pairs.

I think the GX260 is mini tower has two different moles
1) PC3200 compatible with memory - 184 Pin DDR3200 400MHz

2) PC2700 compatible with memory -184 Pin DDR2700 333MHz

Please enter the service tag on dell.com and find the manual and the right memory for your PC

All the best!
