Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I want to get started a little with repairing electronics. There are some good books to read online and I've been picking up lots of random knowledge from people I know lately which means it is beginning to look like I could expand in this field. One thing is, my hands are a little bit shaky. What's the best solution to this when you are trying to solder things (other than a beer!) I've seen devices called "helping hands" but they use crocodile clips and look like they may cause damage to components. I've heard there are special clamps people use, what are they?

Those devices work for some jobs. Basically it comes down to practice. One problem most people new to soldering will make is holding the iron too tight. Another thing is set up some sort of wrist wrest. You can use books or anything but if you can rest your hand/wrist that will also help a lot. Also sometimes resting the tip on your job, the back end may shake but the tip will be steadier. Hope these tips help. Just keep practicing. Practice makes perfect. There are also a ton of videos on youtube that can help you as well.
Thank you and good luck,

Where can I found a repair shop for my 3000 watts inverter

I don't know of anyone that repairs these things unless you get it from a good electronics shop that offers repair. Lots of people repair themselves. But you need electronic knowledge.

Hello. My name is Drini and thank you for reading my problem. I've got a Jet force 125cc of 2004. It was going well when suddenly the rpms fell down, the exhaust began to explod and the scooter went...

Hello Drini. I am sorry to hear about your problem. No one should have to pay 690 Euros for an unsuccessful attempt at repairing a scooter.

The fact you have paid such a lot without a result is probably your choice of engineer has been poor.
The scooter is mechanically complex with the added complexity of electronic fuel injection and ignition and they quickly gained a reputation for unreliability and for being expensive to repair.

The scooter is a specialist machine and repair and maintenance of it should be entrusted to only those engineers that have the necessary knowledge, experience and equipment to properly test and diagnose faults and to provide the machine with the most suitable level of service. Such an engineer would be expensive but currently you are paying a lot of money just so inexperienced people can learn the bike is too complex for them to repair.

I feel you need to research the repairers in your district. Locate owners of similar Peugeot scooters and ask them what sort of service they receive from their repairers. Do not assume every repairer has the same capability and pay nothing until you are satisfied.

    Good luck!

When i enter a dvd disc in it says no disc what do I need to do to fix that?

    Hi jannette,

I've advice you to accompany with guy with a little knowledge in electronics to do this simple fix.
Your no disc error can be a DIY like the following steps.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Clean the lens. - Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc. Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.
2.Replace the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser. If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.
3.Check the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.
Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.
Ifyou already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.

    Hope it may help you.
    Have a nice day!

Need a repair manual for 2004 heritage softail classic anybody have an e-copy?

Sorry but I doubt you'll find a downloadable copy of either an owner's manual or a service manual online. Harley is very protective of their copyrighted materials and constantly watch the Internet for violations of the copyright laws concerning their materials. Sometimes you see something come up on the wed but it doesn't stay long. I would suspect that the webmaster gets a call from H-D's legal department. Both original H-D manuals and other publications are available for sale. I look at it this way. At today's labor cost, if you repair only ONE thing on your machine using the knowledge you get from the book, the book just paid for itself. I ALWAYS purchase service manuals and I"ve been riding and fixing Harley's since 1966. Nobody knows it all.

    Good Luck

Samsung Rear Projection 47" TV goes into stand by on start up

I am sorry to disappoint you but a TV problem can only be fixed by electronic technician. If you want to do it yourself, you would have to learn electronics. Start by learning basic electronic, and then read a book on how to fix televisions. Without knowledge in electronics, you won't be able to understand a book on fixing a TV. I have been fixing TV since 1998, and I started after dropping out of electronic engineering class. I learned most about electronics on my own, and you can too.
