Question about Makita Drills
How do i remove the chuck from a Makita 8391D cordless drill ?
I think you will find that if you open the chuck fully you will see a cross head screw inside the chuck which you need to undo before removing the chuck. this secure the chuck from unscrewing while being used in reverse to undo screws. Once this screw is out a spanner is used at the base of the chuck to unscrew it from the shaft. this may need a short sharpe shock to get it to move.

Makita sometimes uses a torx or flat head screw .First open the chuck all the way and look inside to see if there is one if so it will have left hand threads so turn the screw clockwise.most drill chucks have a torx type hole to put your torx wrench into.If you don't have one tighten the chuck around a piece of round or square metal then insert into vise.Chuck threads are standard threads so **** hard and it should come off.I have allways used my impact wrench with a # 45 torx
