Question about SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Memory Card with MobilMate Micro Media Card Reader

Open Question

Sandisk 8GB SD micro memory card unreadable

I have a Sandisk 8GB SD micro memory card, which I was using with a Panasonic Lumix camera. Recently when I turned the camera on it read ''Memory card error, please check the card'' and would not allow new pictures to be taken or old pictures to be viewed.

When I plugged it into my computer it took a long time to load the autoplay, which simply kept on searching and never actually ran the card. While the removable disk does eventually show up in ''My Computer'', double clicking or right clicking on the drive icon both freeze the window. The program ''SD formatter'' apparently does not support the drive either, and between these issues I cannot reformat the card.

Having tried a different adapters and cards with two different laptops and the camera (in all combinations), the problem does rest with the micro memory card itself. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Format 8gb sandisk micro sd problem

Often times, these jump drives have a tiny, nearly invisible read-only switch on them. Check to see that it isn't set to read only, which will inhibit formatting, among other things.

I have a panasonic lumix DMC-FZ20 camera that i installed an 8g memory card but it says memory card error

The DMC-FZ20 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card, which fits into the slot but is electronically incompatible.

The LG620g works with microSD cards. Your 4GB card is actually a microSDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it's electronically incompatible and will not work in this phone. You need to use microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Should you use an 8gb sd memory card in a panasonic lumix dmc-fx3 camera ?

Hi,

The manual lists the following SD cards compatible:

4 GB SDHC Memory Card
2 GB SD Memory Card
1 GB SD Memory Card
512 MB SD Memory Card
256 MB SD Memory Card
128 MB SD Memory Card
64 MB SD Memory Card

An 8GB card may or may not work. If you try it, make sure it is an SDHC card. (Note: HC=High Capacity)

Thanks for using Fixya.

Is lumix dmc-fx33 compatible with sandisk ultraII 8gb sdhc cards?

No, 8 GB is too large. According to page 5 of the manual, 4 GB is maximum:

•When the term card is used in these
operating instructions this refers to the
following types of Memory Cards.
– SD Memory Card (8 MB to 2 GB)
– SDHC Memory Card (4 GB)
–MultiMediaCard (still pictures only)
More specific information about memory
cards that can be used with this unit.
• You can only use an SDHC Memory Card
if using cards with 4 GB or more capacity.
• A 4 GB Memory Card without an SDHC
logo is not based on the SD Standard and
will not work in this product.

Sandisk 4gb micro SD with adapter is "unreadable"

Hello,

Certain cameras will not recognize an SD card because it is SDHC. The format was created after the camera. Camera vendors do issue firmeware updates.

Hope it helps.
