Question about Admiral Refrigerators
This is a common problem on most of the refrigerators.Either it is a faulty compressor or the start device on the compressor. If you have experience in repairing appliances, could take all precautions necessary and use multimeter - You could do a continuity check on compressor motor and all combination's. An infinity value on multimeter would confirm bad compressor.
On the side of the compressor you will see a box (maybe a cover) remove the cover if it has one and then remove the wire harness. next you will see the relay with the capacitor mounted to it. give the relay a tug and pull it off the side of the compressor. once you have it off pull the capacitor off and then give the relay a shake. If it rattles the relay is bad. if the relay does not rattle the compressor is bad and you will need to call a service guy to replace the compressor.
Other option would be - Go to a local repair shop and get an overload and relay ( cost around $50 ).Replace it. If the problem still persists, then it is faulty compressor.
Compressor's usually have 5 years warranty on it.

Well most of the time these sound comes because of overload so first of all you can please follow the below steps -
1. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall and unplug it. Refrigerators are very heavy, so get help moving it and do not tip or rock it.
2. Find the condenser coils on the refrigerator. These coils disperse heat, so cleaning them improves the effectiveness of the refrigerator, and stop humming sound.
3. Remove the dust build up on the condenser coils with a vacuum cleaner or condenser brush. If there is a large amount of build up on the refrigerator coils, you can use mild soapy water to more thoroughly clean them.
4. Clean the grill on the front of the refrigerator as it will also help eliminate the humming noise. The grill on front of the refrigerator should snap off and on, but check for screws first. Then pull firmly toward you to remove the grill. If further you have the same problem then there must be some problem in Relay, and you need to replace them. Please post comments for further help or information........
