Well first of all, you need to convert from NAT 3 to NAT 2. the only difference between the two are that NAT 3 doesn't have UPNP. NAT 2 does.

Hi i would like to change the NAT settings for my PS3 i have a st585v6 router how can i do this. the ps3 is not wireless

hello,

To change the NAT settings you need to open ports on the router. For that
1)Get the TCP/UDP ports from PS3 vendor
2)Get the IP add of your PS3
3)Log into the router interface and open ports for it.

Hope this helped.

Getting PS3 NAT Type 2 with Netopia Router ???

I have nat type 1 with this router but no upnp. access your router. click on advanced setup, click on configure, click on connection, choose ppp over ethernet llc/snap scroll down and click on save and restart connection. call your internet provider and get the username and password for your router. you will need it later. on your ps3, go to network settings, select internet connection settings. the ps3 will ask if you want to continue, select yes.select custom, wired connection, auto detect, PPPoE, enter the username and password you got from your isp, select automatic, automatic, do not use, enable, then press the x button to save, press the x button again to test connection

I had bought a wireless router today

You need to do port forwarding. Port forwarding will open your NAT type to 1. Just call Sony and ask what port should you open on your router's admin page.

My PS3 has no NAT Type!!

there is something known as NAT strict that can happen due to many reasons , NAT or network address translator helps in converting the WAN ip address to LAN side IP address or public to private ipaddress . In a case of NAT strict or no NAT type ur PS3 or the router to which you have connected the PS3 is not able to convert the IP address...
Solution: try logging on to the router manager or PS3 settings and enable the NAT ( it would be in a disabled state or DMZ ( de militarized zone ) state )....
If the nat is already enabled Then try to manually configure NAT by opening the port numbers on the router manager or PS3. Port numbers can of UP or TCP protocol depending upon the games ur tyring to play....
If u donno how u do it then contact sony or the people who gave u the router or ur ISP
