Question about Sharp UX-B750 Inkjet Fax

1 Answer

I can not receive a fax

The fax mode is on. The date, time, number of rings, fax number and name are correctly entered and it is capable of sending a fax. However when a fax is attempted to be sent back from the other end, the phone does not ring and the transmission goes directly to voicemail.

Hi there, Fax machines are still in common use today despite the widespread adoption of computers along with their multiple communication tools, including e-mail and social networks. Fax problems can include trouble receiving faxes, dialing issues, faxes not printing and poor print quality. Performing periodic maintenance can help with fax problems. Check any visual indicators for trouble. Many fax machines have a display panel and use it for reporting error messages. Often the messages are in plain text and can be understood without referring to the instruction book. Refer to your fax machine'sI can not receive a fax - mag-glass_10x10.gif instruction manual for any numeric error codes.

  • Step 2.Replace the cables. In particular, replace the telephone line cable that runs from the wall to the fax machine. The plugs can become lame, and the wire itself can break inside, providing no visual indication it's broken.

    • Send a fax and have the receiving party tell you if the quality is poor. Send a second fax to a second respondent to eliminate likely issues with the first respondent's fax machine. If both faxes are reported bad, the problem is with your machine. Try cleaning your fax machine's glass with a soft cloth.

    • Step 4Eliminate reception problems. Take a look at a couple of recent faxes that you have received from different parties, if both are of poor quality, it's possible your fax machine needs maintenance. Replace the ink cartridges first. If only one of the faxes is of poor quality, the problem is likely with the sending fax machine.

    NEED 2 PROGRAM COVER PAGE

    Cover Sheet
    You can have the fax machine generate a cover sheet and send it as the last page of your fax transmission. The cover sheet includes the date and time, the receiver's name and number if a Rapid Key or Speed Dial number is used, the sender's name and number, and the total number of pages.
    ? Your name and number must be programmed in order for them to appear
    on the cover sheet (see page 49).
    ? To have the recipient's name appear, you must dial using a Rapid Key or
    Speed Dial number with the name programmed.
    1 Load the document(s).
    • SEND READY will appear in the display.
    • Press RESOLUTION and/or CONTRAST to set the resolution and contrast if needed.
    Press Cover Sheet. (Flip up the Rapid Key overlay if it is down.)
    • The display will briefly show COVER SHEET MODE ENTERED and then
    revert to SEND READY.
    • To cancel the cover sheet selection, press STOP.
    3 Dial the receiving party and transmit the fax.
    If desired, you can set your fax to automatically send a cover sheet with every
    transmission (you do not have to press COVER SHEET each time). This is
    accomplished by setting Option Setting 10 (Auto Cover Sheet) to YES as
    explained on page 125.

    Please can you tell me how to change time and date. thank you. Wendy

    The current time and date are shown on the display when the machine is on and ready for use (standby mode). The time and date are printed on all faxes you send.
    Note: If power to the machine is cut off for over 30 minutes, when power is restored, the machine prompts you to reset the time and date.
    1. Press Setup. The display shows the first setup menu; FAX NUMBER/NAME.
    2. Press left arrow or right arrow until 'TIME/DATE SETUP' appears, then press
    Start/Enter. The display asks you to choose a date format.
    3. Press Start/Enter.
    4. Press left arrow or right arrow until you find the desired date format, then press
    Start/Enter.
    If you select USA, the time and date appears in the order of month, day, then year. The EUROPE format will be displayed in the order of day, month, then year.
    The display shows the currently set time and date using the selected date format.
    5. Enter the correct time and date using the number keypad.
    Day = 01~31
    Month = 01~12
    Year = four digits
    Hour = 00~23
    Minute = 00~59
    You can also use left arrow or right arrow to move the cursor under the digit you want
    to correct, then enter a new number.
    6. Press Start/Enter when the time and date on the display is correct. If you enter an invalid number, the machine beeps and does not proceed to the next step. If this happens, just reenter the correct number.
    The display shows the time and date you have set, then returns to
    Standby mode.

    Hi zoaj,

    More then likely you have the fax set up to USE A DIALING PREFIX.

    Therefore it is automatically doing this, regardless of what you input.

    Follow the proceedure below ( which comes directly from the users manual for your printer type ) to change this. Delete the " USE A DIALING PREFIX " information.

    once that is done, it will no longer automatically add the prefix for you. :)

    I have BOLDED the relevant information below that pertains to this.

    Please take a moment to evaluate my solution. Your appropriate rating of my solution would be greatly appreciated.

    Time

    This should take care of it for you.

    NOTE: The current date and time are displayed on the LCD when the machine is ON and ready for use (Standby mode). The date and time are printed on all faxes that are sent. When the machine is installed for the first time, the LCD will prompt for the date and time to be set.
    1. Press the [Setup] button on the Control Panel. 'Fax Number / Name' will be displayed on the LCD.
    2. Press the left or right arrow button until 'Time / Date Setup' is displayed, then press the [Start / Enter] button to access the Time / Date Setup menu. The LCD will prompt you to select a Date Format.
    3. Press the [Start / Enter] button.
    4. Press the left or right arrow button to select the required date format, then press [Start / Enter]. The LCD will display the currently set date and time using the selected date format and prompt to set the month. The cursor will be under the first digit of the month and the number will blink.

      NOTE: If you select USA, the date will be displayed in the format of Month-Day-Year. If you select Europe, the date will be displayed in the format of Day-Month-Year.

    5. Enter the correct date using the numeric keypad on the Control Panel. Each time you enter the appropriate number, the LCD will prompt for the next item to be entered in the following order: month, day, year, hour, and minute.
    6. Enter the correct time in 24-hour format using the numeric keypad. For example, enter 22:30 for 10:30 P.M. If an invalid number is entered, the LCD will not proceed to the next step. Re-enter the correct number.
    7. Press the [Start / Enter] button to save the setting and return to the Standby mode. The LCD will display the date and that has been set.
