I will reccomend that you do a system recovery. Notebooks normally come with a system recovery disk. Please go ahead and attempt it.

You can try the following:

If your S.O. is Windows you can try any Windows Password Recovery Tool

Alternatively you can ty( if Windows):

Step 1: Boot or Reboot your Windows laptop (it is a Windows 7 example ).
Step 2: Hold on F8 to enter Advanced Boot Options before the Windows 7 loading screen appears.
Or Press CTRL to enter Advanced Boot Options when computer power on.
Step 3: Choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt in the coming screen, and press Enter.
There are three options for choice, Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking and Safe Mode with Command Prompt. In order to reset Windows user password with command prompt, select Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
Step 4: Wait for Windows 7 to load files until Windows login screen comes out.
Step 5: Log in with an administrator account or built-in administrator when you see login screen.
Step 6: Command Prompt runs automatically. Type net user in the Command Prompt and press Enter to see how many user accounts in locked laptop. Then all of laptop users will be listed in the Command Prompt.

I have the notebook PC x551 and when I tune it on

Have you try safemode? After the pc starts start pressing the F8 key.
Choose safe mode and see if you can login and see the desktop. If you do then in safe mode run anti-virus software. If you use Windows XP see if you can login as "administrator". Your profile could be corrupted. For vista, Win7 requires other method dificult to explain to login as administratore.

My dell inspiron freezes on the welcome page

While there are a number of possible solutions which may or may not work depending on several factors, the easiest to try is to boot to safe mode and run a system restore.

To boot to safe mode:
When you start the system, as soon as the blue dell logo goes away, tap the f8 button. This should get you to a menu from which you can choose "safe mode". It will show a bunch of writing on the screen and should eventually bring you to the login page, login as administrator.

Run system restore:
This varies depending on which version of windows you are running. In XP it is start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.

Other things you can try:
Login as a different user.
Use start>run>msconfig from safe mode to disable startup items which may be causing the problem.
Consider removing recently installed software which may have caused the problem.
Scan for viruses, malware, spyware, ect.
Run diagnostics on the system by pressing f12 on the dell logo and chosing diagnostics.
The worst case scenario to fix a problem like this is reinstalling windows.

My dell inspiron 1545 laptop won't accept my password to login

  1. Reboot the computer
  2. Right after the bios is finished, hit F8 (or F2,10,12)
  3. Select ‘Safe mode’ or ‘Safe mode with networking support’
  4. Windows will boot up to the logon screen. Click administrator
  5. Do, Start->Run->type ‘command’
  6. To reset the password type ‘net user username *’ where username is the username you want to reset.
  7. For no password, leave blank.
  8. Now, reboot and you can login as that user.

My Advent 4211 refuses to go beyond the windows xp login page. It does not respond to clicking on my login icon and had to be manually shut down

If you have changed your system settings or install new hardware/software, revert or uninstall them by going into the safe mode (Press F8 while your power on the laptop and select Safe Mode). You'll know the root of the problem by doing this and if possible run a virus scan in the safe mode. Good luck.

SYSTEM RUNS VERY SLOW & i cannot access user login pg when it is turned on -------are there any online downloads for this laptop

Hello,

Please press F8 button while turning on the machine and you will get safe mode option.
select safe mode and then check if you are able to login.
If yes then after getting the screen right click on my computer and then go to properties>advanced>performance settings>virtual memory>and click on custom size and increase it to 3000 MB (it will consume the space of C drive)
Then go to run option and type there %temp% and press enter. A lot of files will be there just selectand delete them permanently.
Then type prefetch on run and delete those files as well

Restart the machine and check

Thanks

Virus scan

Start the computer in SAFE MODE by pressing f8 during bootup before the windows flash screen comes up -select SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING- it will start slower than normal and open in safe mode printed in each corner of the screen.
If you ave not updated your virus software , nows a good time.
Run your virus software, it should be able to catch the virus in safe mode.

Every time i boot up my acer aspire 5315 laptop I always get a black screen and the computer freezes?

Please try to reboot in Safe mode after Tapping F8 Key during start.

If the option for run in safe mode not appear you need to do it again.

After then, when you login at desktop, do the following:

  1. Click on Start
  2. Open the Run window,
  3. Type msconfig, then click 'OK'.
  4. Go to the Services tab, find the 'Background Intelligent Transfer' service.
  5. Disable it, apply the changes & reboot.
Also at startup tab in msconfig, and in the Startup Tab
Disable the items which you think not necessary to come during startup.
THis will help you lot to reduce the time being taken in Startup.

Hope it will work for you.
