You will need to look for a magnetic cartridge preamp this will then plug into the aux socket. If you need that socket for something else I suggest you get a switcher box. You might even get one with a cartridge pre-amp built in!

The volume on technics SL-BD22 turntable will not turn up and stays at one volume

Since the turntable itself doesn't have a volume control the problem is with the amp it is connected to. It should be connected to an amp with a dedicated phono socket. It's no use connecting it to a tape or aux or CD socket. These sockets do not have a built in pre-amp for the magnetic cartridge. If your amp doesn't have a dedicated phono socket then you can buy a Magnetic Cartridge Pre-amp that will plug into a tape socket etc on the amp and have the deck plugged into it. If plugged into a none dedicated socket though you can hear it, the volume will be very low compared to other sources. If you have got it plugged into a dedicated phono socket and the volume is still low, then the internal built pre-amp inside your amp for the deck has failed and will need to be repaired. The pre-amp failure will not effect any other functions of the amp.

How do i stop the arm skipping on an ion pure turntable. This happens on old and new vinyl. the machine is just out the box.

To stop it jumping you need to increase the weight located on the end of the arm slightly then test play a record, if it jumps you increase the weight again slightly and test again. Repeat till it stops. If it rumbles decrease the weight.

As for the sound. You need to find out if the deck uses a magnetic cartridge or some other type. If it uses a magnetic cartridge it will have to be connected to an amp with a Magnetic Cartridge Pre-amp built in. Or you will need to purchase one (pre-amp that is) if it has not got one. This can be then be plugged into a standard jack socket.
If it does not use a magnetic cartridge, don't put it one marked for "phono". Instead put it in a tape, aux or cd socket.

Aiwa turntable not playing through the speakers

Has the amp got a dedicated phono socket for the turntable? If you are using a tape or aux socket it might not have the pre-amp needed to hear the deck. If your amp doesn't have a socket for the deck, you will need a magnetic cartridge pre-amp.

Also check the connections to the cartridge, they might have come loose.

If the amp does not have a dedicated sockets for a turntable - often marked "phono". Then plugging it into an aux socket won't work. You will need to get a Magnetic Cartridge Pre-amp. The turntable plugs into this and that plugs into your aux socket. If at the present you turn up the volume really loud you might just hear the record playing. That will tell you that the cartridge is OK.

Sound coming from speakers is very low.Turntable connected to a Sony home theater system has no jack for turntable. I have it plugged into the sat/tv/cd jack.

if there is no phono input on your home theatre amp, plug the turntable into the auxillary sockets and not the sat/tv/cd input as it wont work properly in that socket. if after putting the turntable into the auxillary socket it is still too quiet then you should purchase a specially made small pre-amp booster amplifier designed for turntables to inprove the signal to noise ratio from a reputable hi-fi shop/dealer. good luck

Can i connect my sterio to tv

Yes, if it has Audio Out phono (usually colour coded Red & White) sockets on the rear of the DVD. Then connect to the audio IN of the Hi-Fi unit, which again may probably be phono type sockets. To hear the audio from the Hi-Fi you will probably have to select Aux as the input source on the Hi-Fi eg where you normally select CD/Radio etc. This is the common type of set up, but may vary slightly depending on the make of the stereo

Vinyl on Turntable sounds thin and trebley through Denon AVR-1603

You will need an adapter amp which converts the tiny tiny signal from a magnetic phono cartridge up to the line level that you need to feed into your AUX input jacks. They cost about $20 to $30 dollars and can be found at Radio Shack. Unless of course you have a phono input jack on the back of your Denon unit. Good luck.

Connecting to speakers

The socket on your player is an audio output. The headphone socket on a Hi-Fi unit is, again, an audio output. If your cable has a 3.5mm audio mini-jack (male) at each end, you can connect the headphone output of your device to an input socket, but these generally only exist in some in-car players, and rarely on home audio products.

If you want to connect to a Hi-Fi system, you are better off connecting to the phono-in sockets that you will find at the back of your unit, notably on dedicated amplifiers. You can then get a simple lead with a 3.5mm audio mini-jack (male) at one end and a pair of phono plugs (left and right) at the other end. This should cost no more than a few pounds and are available from places like Maplin or from specialist sellers on eBay.

No sound from turntable bought for our hi fi system

Hi,

Most if not all turntables would need to be connected to a PHONO INput which is high impedance with a high gain pre-amplifier stage. It will not work when connected to an AUX, CD or any line level inputs. Alternately, if your amp does not have any Phono Inputs, you can feed the turntable output to a preamp which can then be connected to any any line level inputs. An example may be found here or here. Additionally, there are some turntables with a built-in preamp.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
