Question about Maytag M7DH65B2A Dehumidifier

1 Answer

I have a Maytag model M7DH65B2A dehumidifier that has worked well for several years. However, when I hook up the hose to drain off the water when we go on vacation the water still fills up the built-in container rather than exiting through the drain and hose pipe. Should I remove the built-in container to run the water through the hose or can I leave the container in place? This is what we have been doing with varied success -- sometime the hose works fine, sometimes it does not. Many thanks, Graham Cox 518-644-2165 or glcox@audubon.org.

Hi Graham. Check the hose and the opening to the hose through the base of the dehumidifer. There is probably some debris in there causing this aggravating problem. J.

With this model is there a way to attach a hose to it so that I can leave it running continuously while the hose is draining into drainage hole in my basement? m7dh65b2a

Yes, there is a way to do it. As a matter of fact, your model (now discontinued) came with a short section of hose. However, you can still use a short 5' section of garden hose and achieve the same results. To find the hose connection (if you don't have your Owners Manual) remove the bucket and you should see what looks like a hose connection (which it is) behind where the bucket sits in the unit. If it is not there, inspect the back of the humidifier for a small 2"x 2" pop-out compartment door. Inside of that is the hose connection. Remember, dehumidifiers do not have pumps to pump the water out, they rely on gravity for water to flow through and out of the hose.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks

My Maytag Model number M7DH65B2A is not collecting water

Hello,

First, make sure the humidistat isn't set too high by adjusting it to the lowest humidity setting and running it again.

Next, test the dehumidifier by placing it in a closed bathroom with a hot shower running. If you don't see water collecting in the unit after several minutes, turn the unit off and clean all dehumidifier filters and coils. If, after adjusting the settings and cleaning the unit, you still don't see water collecting, you may have a refrigeration issue.

This situation will have to be addressed by a qualified technician.

Take care.

Had the same problem. Make sure you tighten the house a little with pliers. Also, make sure the dehumidifier is up a lot higher than where you're draining it into. Mine drains into a utility sink. But I have the dehumidifier propped up onto a dresser. I cut a small piece of hose to run into the sink. Seems to be working now.

It will take 5 min or so to establish a water flow, so be patient after you hook everything up. Good luck.

Dehumidifier collecting water in container

If you have the hose drain tube connected, drainage will defer to it first. If you remove the hose drain tube, the place where it connects to the drain pan drips into the container instead.
