Amana Fridge with bottom Freezer

The temp in the fridge is alright but the freezer isn't cold enough. The freezer is the same temp as the fridge. I can hear the sound of a switch clicking on and off ever few minutes. Any ideas?

Thank you

I have an Amana side-by-side refrigerator, (Model SXD25S2E). The problem I'm having is that the freezer is not freezing, the refrigerator side is working fine. Here is what I've done so far, Ive checked the defrost thermostat and it's good. I've forced the unit into defrost mode by using the light switch and everything worked. I've noticed the unit cycling on its on everything (the fan noise) will stop, and after a while it will start up again. both fans are running, and the compressor is warm to the touch. I've checked the freezer control switch and when i turn it to the off position everything goes off, when I turn it on the freezer fan comes on. I've also cleaned the coils under the refrigerator just to make sure they were getting the correct amount of airflow across them. When I remove the cover in the back of the freezer the first two coils are froze over, the rest of the coils are damp looking but no frost. I need help what am I missing, every thing seems to be working correctly but the freezer is not freezing it's actually at refrigerator temp.

Why is the fridge and freezer not cold enough

If the fan isn't running neither section will be cold enough. There may be something jammed against the fan blade or the motor could be defective.

To fix up a frosted up vents, I had a control board replaced for $180. Then 6 months later, the bottom freezer frost up AGAIN. rather than dumping more money to fix it, I was about to buy a new fridge, but had a crazy idea: I disconnected the water to the freezer, bought plastic trays for ice cubes for $3 at walmart. Fridge has worked like a charm for 6 months. no signs of frost. Saved $1000's.

The bottom freezer has exceesive frost, and is not cold enough. I tried to remove the frost, it will work for about a week afterwords. Help

Really when the fridge frost very excessively there is less cold.
You have to regularly set up defrost setting if your fridge has automatic defrost.
Or your fridge has manual defrost then defrost it twice a week.
To minimize excessive frost, set the temp control setting to just mid- position.
Good luck.

My freezer works but my refrigerator wont stay cold...getting warm. it is 4 years old. what could be wrong?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

Amana bottom freezer problem

It sounds like the condenser coil might be freezing up. This happened to me on my bottom freezer. The cooling part of your fridge is only in the back of the freezer compartment. The cold air from the freezer blows up through a vent in the back to the fridge and comes out at the top. If the coils do not defrost (which is what happened with mine) the air flow is blocked by the ice and can't get to the fridge compartment. Your freezer will still be cold but your fridge won't. If you pull the plug on it and time things right you can defrost the coils but this will only postpone the problem. Both will work for awhile again until the coils ice up again. You can also pull out the freezer drawere and try to defrost the coil with a blow dryer. You have to disconnect the icemaker and pull out the back panel behind the freezer to get to it though.

Fridge & freezer not cold enough

EASY FIX. TAKE ALL FOOD OUT OF FRIDGE AND FREEZER AND STORE IT.

THEN UNPLUG YOUR FRIDGE FOR 24HOURS WITH DOORS OPEN.

YOU WILL HAVE TO CLEAN UP ALOT OF WATER. THEN CLEAN THE FRIGE.

WHEN YOU PLUG IT BACK IN IT WILL WORK.

BUT THIS IS JUST A TEMP FIX. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IN ABOUT A YEAR OR TWO.

TO GIVE U A MORE PERMANENT FIX WILL TAKE SOME TIME. TRY THIS FIRST.
