Ok. It still might be the bulb, if not make sure it is plugged in to a working outlet. Also, if that doesn't work unplug, wait 1 hour, push the power button (with it unplugged) then plug it back in. If nothing fixes your problem, it is the power supply.

My Benq pb6100 projector needs a ''shake'' on switching on to run

Hi I am Vortash possibly a loose plug or the bulb housing is not secure and the cut off switch is not contacting .. loose fuse .. dry joints o loose component .. one thing is for sure keep shaking it
and your going to kill your bulb ?. During the arc on the lamp it builds up carbon deposits if they break loose they get hot in the bulb under working conditions against the glass and sometimes fracture it ?. don't shake your your unit unless you can afford to replace this at between $400 and $800 i bet that repair would be a more economic solution hope this helps Regards Vortash

How to hook up BenQ PB6100 Digital Projector to a lap top?

Use a standard "video cable" that is used to connect a desktop to a monitor. Your lap-top will also have a similar video out - this is a blue colored outlet jack on your ap-top with three rows of 5-pin holes. The BenQ also has a similar blue receptor jack almost next to the place where you plug in the mains power cable on the rear of the unit.

BenQ PB6100 extremely dim screen/projection

Hi skeeterJ

This is most probably your lamp , I have had loads of PB6100 's that has even had less hours on the lamp than yours and needed replacement.

Keep in mind that the 2000-3000 hours they talk about on a lamp is just a rough factory estimate. The time you get on a lamp is determined by how you use the Projector - because at the end of the day the lamp is just like a globe in your home - it doesn't like being swithed on and off for short periods. This is a mistake most Projector owners make - by thinking they are saving the bulb's lifetime and switching it off for short periods.

You can take my word on this as I am a Authorised BenQ Service Technician.

I've had clients who got 10 000 hours on one bulb just because they left the unit running for longer periods.

Lamp Part No : 60.J8618.CG1

Easiest way to make 100% sure before investing in a new lamp is to take out the lamp by opening the lamp door at the bottom.
Check for any vein like looking marks in either white or black or a bubble on the shaft.

If you have any further troubles or questions , feel free to post another posting and I'll answer it for you ASAP.

Thanks for using Fixya and good luck !

Bulb is definitely not cause of your problem.Normally lamp light will blink when it's defective.Dead means PSU problem .Some projectors have a overheat switch which switches off supply till manualy reset, you need to open the projector.
