Its the usb, if u connect the monitor via the standard port, the vga port, it will work. If your monitor only have an dvi cable you can fix that by an adapter. That adapter should be an DVI to VGA.
Good luck to you

Sound/Speakers that are built into monitors, typically are pretty poor. I suggest purchasing some speaker from your local electronics store, or www.newegg.com. (New Egg has very good deals on computers and accessories, like speakers.) Here is a link to New Egg's speaker section. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=60&name=Speakers
On the back of your computer, you will see little holes (3.5mm). They are usually color coded, Green is the typical speaker output jack/hole/port. When you buy your speakers, you will plug the cable with Green Head Plug (3.5mm) that is attached to your speakers, into this Green Jack. Turn them on, and you should have audio! Now, if the volume seems weak, you can double click the speaker at the bottom right of your Start Bar in windows. It looks like a little silver circle. This is your volume control There are multiple slide bars to adjust your audio.

Go To Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Select "restore my computer to an earlier date". Look at the LIST of Restore points. Find the DATE when this "Security Update" was installed and Select the last date before it was installed and Follow the "Wizard" to Restore it to BEFORE the Update you think CHanged Things. Too many variables to figure out without seeing it to determine what was changed but that will correct the situation and you will not loose anything.
