Scanner will not scan to image only printer or memory card

If your HP Printer is connected to the computer it should be able to save the scanned images to your computer when you start the scanner using the scanner icon on your computer.
The the way is to save the images to your memory card and transfer them to your computer using a memory card reader, then you can email these images as a file attachment in your emails.

Scan the document.
Save it as a GIF or JPG file.
Open Word.
Create a box to hold an image.
Place the image into the box.

Some computers will not acknowledge your flash cards. Depending on your flash card, your printer & computer to make sure they are compatible. Try opening your computer Icon to see if card is accepted. then click in your card to see if any file are in. You may have to load your printer software again..

well did you go to my computer and put the disk of your printer and install it??

Only one scan come's through, the same one I put In days ago.

try to off and on the hp photosmart let scan if not work re-install driver. let me know if still not work for further trouble shooting.

HI, The easiest procedure to scan a document using your scanner is open Paintbrush that is installed with your operating system. Click on File Menu at the top left corner of your screen, then select "From Scanner or Camera". Once you have selected the option, you will be prompted for your scanner. Select the installed scanner and go on scanning the image/document placed on the glass bed of your scanner. Once the scanning has been completed, save the image file.

If the memory card size is more than 2 GB, you would face issues, these printers support the cards maximum of 2 GB, only new printers like Photo-smart Premium C309a support 8 GB cards,

Google, enter "HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One" and you can reinstall the scanner into computer...free.  Under the black apple in the upper corner of screen find "recent Items" and you will find the Photosmart Studio where the scanner icon is used to scan and create a file in thecomputer.  

By default all scanned documents are images (jpeg), OCR software converts the image to text for use with Word. I do not believe the scanner can tell what format to use without your input. More information is available here at HP's Online Support.
