SOURCE: need to know how to clean a rowenta iron plate

As long as it's not a coated surface - plain steel - get 0000 steelwool to rub it with. It will take some elbow grease but it will work to clean and (almost) polish the surface.

SOURCE: Rowenta Steam Iron Leak

Yes, my rowenta model DX6700 is also leaking from the heal. I bought this iron after having a GE for ten years because I thought it would iron my clothes better. I've had it less than two years. How frustrating!!!!!!

SOURCE: Iron spits out rusty water. The iron is a Rowenta

Fill it with a mix of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Let it set for 30 minutes and steam it out for about 2 minutes. Unplug it and dump it. After it cools colpletely, fill it with water and steam it out. The rust is coming from your water supply, not the iron.

Rowenta Iron leaking out of bottom and leaks on clothes

I have one of these and have been battling the leak problem for years. I'm a stubborn mechanical engineer and I'm bound and determined to fix this, when in fact I should just buy another, different, iron.

The problem is then 'handle'. Built into the handle is the water tank. The water tank is made from two pieces which are then glued and screwed together. Think of taking a coke bottle, cutting it in half, and then gluing it back together. Now you see where the problem comes in... the glue they use isn't up to the task, or the heat... or the pressure... is causing the tank to leak somewhere / everywhere.

I have disassembled this several times, meticulously scraped out the old silicone, and tried several different types of silicone to re-seal. So far it always fails. It's good for a while, but maybe a couple months, before it starts leaking again.

Conclusion... BAD DESIGN. Very disappointing, because in every other respect I like this iron better than any I've ever owned.

Hello :

Here I'm going to tell you the basics of cleaning your Rowenta iron :

Things You'll Need:1:Rowenta Soleplate Cleaning Kit
2: Ironing board
3:Clean, dry cloth
4:Two cotton terry cloths, such as washcloths

Now to the cleaning :

1:Pour out any water from the iron. Turn the steam iron on to the "Cotton" setting, which is the one with three dots on the settings dial.

2:Cover an area of the ironing board with a clean, dry cloth. Fold one washcloth or other piece of cotton terry cloth in half and place it onto the cloth on the ironing board.

3:Dispense a 2-inch long daub of cleaning solution onto the terry cloth. Run the heated iron over the cloth directly on the cleaning solution. Move the steam iron in a circular motion over the cleaner on the cloth for a minute or two.

4:Remove the steam iron from the cloth. Carefully wipe any remaining cleaning solution from the soleplate using the second terry cloth.

5:Add water to the steam iron. Turn on the "Steam" or "Burst of Steam" feature. Run the iron over the clean, dry cloth on the ironing board to ensure the cleaning product is entirely gone from the soleplate.

I have a rowenta iron that leaks a lot of water

Here's a solution . . . Do NOT buy ROWENTA! I've had 3 Rowenta irons. All of them have eventually began to dump water out of the base. . . heck, the Titanic didn't leak as much as a Rowenta iron!
