If the above order does not work, try the order below.

Select your operating system from the drop-down menu, which in your case is Windows 7 and from the list of drivers and programs, choose these: Notebook control and utilities, Sony applications (various), System components, System Software, Vaio Media Software and download and install all the drivers and sotware under these menus. OK? For example under system components you will find: SONY SHARED LIBRARY (which fixes your problem), Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver,.... I recommend that you install all the software under the above categories.

Then, dowload and install the Sony Shared Library, Sony Firmware Extension Parser & its updates and the VAIO Event services. All the above utilities will be mentioned under System Components, System Software and Notebook Control Utilities Categories on the drivers page.

1. Verify if the webcam drivers and software is installed in the computer.
The WebCam Companion Software contains teh drivers for the camera.
2. If the WebCam Companion Software is available and there is an error message like, no camera detected or camera in use. Then, ensure to first singout from any third party messenger software such as Skype/Yahoo messenger and exit the messenger. Ensure the messenger is not running in the background and you have successfully quit and exit the software after logout.
After that, use the WebCam Companion Software to make the camera working.
3. If the issue persists, check if Imaging Devices is listed and has the Sony Visual Communications Camera driver installed under device manager in the computer.
4. Press the Windows logo key +R key together to access the RUN window and type the command "devmgmt.msc" without the quotes, press the enter key.
5. In device manager locate Imaging Devices. If not present, reinstall the WebCam Companion Software, Sony Firmware extension parser device driver, Intel Chipset Driver and Sony Shared Library.

It is required to install the following Drivers/Utilities in the following order to fix the issue with the functions Keys.

Please download each file in the Computer to a folder. After that open the folder where the file was downloaded and double click to begin the installation. Then, please follow the onscreen instructions to complete the intallation process. Make sure that you restart the Computer after each installation. Installing all the above Driver/Utility in the correct order should fix the issue with the Volume/Brightness Function Keys.
