Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I have 2 model 1916W used in dual configuration. One comes up and displays the Acer logo, then the power LED turns orange and the the screen dies. The other monitor works fine. If I switch positions (cables), the problem stays with the monitor.

Your monitor appears to have a problem that should be addressed through warranty service (90 days to 1 year) or exchange if you just bought it within the last 30 days from a major retailer.

Seems that way. Fact that you saw the logo on screen eliminates the inverter board.

Acer laptop display goes off after some second

Try booting into safe mode. Chances are that you have set the screen resolution and refresh rate to some value that the LCD cannot handle. That is why it works until Windows takes over. Once you are in Safe Mode you can get things under control.

I have a 19" ACER model AL 1916W wide screen and in the middle of doing something, the screen will black out and then come back on showing the ACER logo and continues on the page I'm working on...this will...

It proably has dying DC filter caps.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Might be something wrong with your display settings. Between the Acer logo and Microsoft logo, try pressing F8 about twice per second. A menu appears. Use the arrow keys and choose the one with "VGA-mode" using the enter-key. Wait while the computer boots. Set a compatible display resolution for your display.
