Loose key on laptop

I have an HP Pavillon dv9000 notebook and I noticed that my control key on the right side is very loose but it is not broken. I called HP and they wanted 300 to just look at my computer, is there any way to fix the key on my own or take it to the store to have them fix it for cheaper?

The type of key I have is not shown on his page. I'm usually able to look at something and figure it out but when I got this back in after quite a long time working on it the key is not tilted back more than the other keys.

MY hp pavillon dv6000 won't turn on. I press the power button and the blue lights turn on but they turn off at the same second, not even the fan turns on. PLEASE HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

WiFi key doesn't work - is there a function key to get it to work?

Nope, could have broken loose or the wiring is frayed. the only way to turn wifi on and off is manually now via the control panel.

Loose hinges on hp dv9700 laptop

Well DV9000 series notebooks were under a recall programme from HP,

So the best way would be call HP and check whether the recall is still valid or not.

If yes then they would provide you a free repair or if the computer is under warranty then they would provide you a free repair as well.

KEN

Bought new power cord for pavillon dv 1000 and

If the laptop runs on batter but cannot run on the AC adapter, you have a broken DC Jack. If you laptop cannot power up with the battery or flash low battery indicator, you laptop is dead.
