if it's electric check the thermostats on the heater box but first make sure you have 240 volts going to the dryer, with a meter check the power where the cord connects to the dryer, from the red to the white you should have 110 or 120 volts and from the black to the white you should have the same,if you don't then you have a problem in the fuse box or a bad breaker not the dryer.next if that checks good unplug the dryer and with a meter check the thermostats,if the lint filter is on top remove the vent line and remove the back panel and also read out the heating element, you have to remove at least one of the wires off the part you're reading out,if the filter is inside then all your parts are in the front of dryer,if it's gas check the thermal fuse, the ignitor, sensor,if the ignitor is glowing but not liting you have bad gas coils or a bad gas valve,no heat the timer will not advance in auto or more or less.let me know what you find

My Kenmore HE4 electric dryer runs for 2 minutes and stops

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is faulty replac it. If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. Replace it

The dryer wont heat up and the timer does not turnoff dryer

Good chance you heating element is bad, hence it will not heat or trigger the turn off timer. Look on line for your model number and make...these are pretty easy to install.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

My dryer does not shut off! continues to heat

HI. This is a defective, or damaged timer control module. It must be replace asap. If this continues, it will damage the element. Replace the timer, if possible. Once replaced, the issue will be solved.

No heat....i turned the dial while it's running

Your complete problem may lie with a bad timer. Replace the timer and it will stop at the end of the cycle. If it still does not heat, update your post for the next step.
However, replacing the timer may solve both problems.

Kenmore Electric dryer runs on cool down forever.

Call the mfr and ask them about it. This problem may be pretty complicated. There may be a problem with your board that tells it to go to cool down. Can you set the timer for 45-60 minutes and it stay on heat for that long?

I am sorry to hear this, my name is Marc White, i am self employed and it seems as though you have a bad timer, bad timer will cause the timer not to go to the off position and blow your fuse......change your timer..

thanks
