- I got the same problem with my Trekstor.I just had a powerout in my neighbourhood.
After the power had been restored, I started up my PC.
My external HD went berzerk and refuses to start up.
Please help me!!

it might be because of virus,that stop you to enter your hard disk when you click on it..install anti virus like avg 7.5,mcafee ,norton to check for the virus .
also goto start >open Run>cmd to open command prompt and type
chkdsk to check your driver for errors.

i am having the same problem i have a wd200 20 gb hard drive it clicks when computer is turned. and it says detecting ide and stayes ther for ever and never turns on and so i just decided that it was bad so your external is probably burned

Virus cannot cause hard drive to click. Most likely it has bad heads.
