You can use your USB memory stick just like a normal hard drive, CD-ROM drive etc.

You can access the USB stick from Windows Explorer or the standard file, save as option in most applications.

No negative affects would occur from not unplugging the device. However make sure you click 'eject' in Windows Explorer if you want to remove the device when the computer is still switched on. If you switch the computer off you can remove the stick with no other considerations.

You mean clicked on USB mode. You should be able to find this memory stick as a drive by clicking on computer and looking under "Removable Storage". Just click on drive that pertains to this memory stick.

I have a memory stick in my camera but no place to insert it in my PC Other than taking the memory stick to a photo shop and have them put the snaps on a disc. Don't know what else to do. Anyone

Get a memory stick adapter from any local store. Then you can connect your memory stick using that USB adapter to your computer.

The adapter goes into an SD card slot. It looks like this:

If you don't have a slot you will need a USB sd adapter..you can get one here:

My usb a dane elect 4gb says that a need to format, but 30 min earlier is was working fine, why? and how can I recuperate my date

Don't be panic. you can try some data recovery software. You can see
http://www.asoftech.com/articles/recover-deleted-files-after-format.html
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the usb drive (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the usb drive and recover your files.

It's no problem at all to get them back. Please see this blog article for several free software that you can download. You'll need to use a card reader with these programs though:

All the download links listed in the article are through CNET, primarily to verify that these are malware free software, and to give you a chance to read user reviews on the software before downloading.

With memory stick in Designer SE machine USB port, whilst selecting a design, got an error message "Device disconnected". This appears to be an intermittant problem and has happened using different memory...

Notice if this problem ever happens with the memory sitck that came with your machine. If it does then it may be the outlet you plug your stick into. Look at the outlet, does it looked damaged in any way?
Some USB sticks now come with programs on them with could be causing a conflict in your machine.

I would look at the files on your original stick through windows explorer and see if there are program type files that you could copy to other sticks that may help them communicate with the machine better.

I inserted my memory stick and an icon popped up and I click it since it said overloaded. It gave me an option to reset it, then removable disk is gone. so I can't use my USB now.

Do you have many other items plugged into additional USB ports? You can "overload"power on a USB hub, i would try to leave your memory stick plugeed in, and restart your computer to see what happens. That or unplug other USB devices that may be in use such as scanner, printer, camera, etc. and try it with those unplugged. A longterm solution if this works is to pick up a powered usb hub, you can pick one up online for around 15-20 bucks.
