Question about Fujitsu Siemens AMILO Pro V2000 Notebook

1 Answer

I asked 5 experts if plugging a 20V 3.42A charger into a 19V 3.42A laptop would blow it up. 4 said no, 1 said yes. 1 was right. I removed the battery before hand and I put it back in after, still nothing... what component is most likely to have blown and how do I work out what to fix?

I thought putting 20V in it was stupid to but I am a software guy they're always playing with hardware and said it would be fine. Thanks for the extra info about lights, etc.

If there are lights on when the ac adapter is plugged in ..than the Cpu is most likely that didnt supported the the extra voltage ..but if there is nothing going on ..I mean no lights nothing ...than if you are lucky will be just some final fuses ..but in the second case I am afraid that you will have to replace the motherboard ....You may try ..if you have lights ..if replacing the Ram memory bring it back ..cause the ram memory is also very sensitive on extra voltage ..I mean 0.2 is much ...but 1 V is already much too much ..This is not a radio that will just heat a little when you have an extra volt ...there are very sensitive components on voltage the Ram memory and the CPU ..So short if the mother board receives power and the stand by lights are on means that the motherboard survived..but if nothing is lit .than is gone may recover the rest though...if it blown suddenly .than the ram memory might be still intact or some other removable components like the cards for devices.....
I suggest to see if the battery charged in a similar model will bring it back this case it may be just the charger that not fitting ....

Dont worry ...until I got to know stuff I made stupid things ...and it was the fastest way to learn something ....have a nice day ..and remember what I said ..if there are no lights is the board or the fuses...I mean it gets no power and it is probably the best thing ..if it has light and do not power up ..than may be the cpu or the ram ...

Angel why not purchase a 20 volt lithium battery charger . It is better than risking blowing up a laptop charger or the battery.

Laptop is not turning on after I change my laptop charger. I remove the battery and plug in my new charger it works fine but suddenly shut off. I put the battery back and plug the charger in. No good.

You need to check the charger, I do not think it is any good as the charging power is in the charger unit not the computer. It sounds as if the battery in the computer is totally dead and that is why it shut down. Hope this helps.

Power is plugged in , battery is plugged in not charging with 0% available

If your battery will not charge, you need to run a test on some components on the laptop. The battery, the charger and the laptop itself. Once you detect the faulty conponent then you replace it with a new one.

To test the battery:
1.Power off the laptop,
2.Take out the battery,
3.Insert it in another laptop,
4.Check of it will charge,

If the battery holds a charge there, then it means the problem is not from the battery, but if it does not hold a charge, then it means the battery is defective and need to be replaced with a new one.

To test the charger:
1.Unplug the charger from the present laptop,
2.Connect it to another laptop to see if it will charge.

If it charges the laptop, then it means the charger is alright, and if it does not charge the laptop, then it means the charger is bad and need to be replaced.

To test the laptop:
1.Turn off the laptop,
2.Disconnect your present charger,
3.Remove your present battery pack,
4.Insert a well tested battery into the laptop,
5.Connect a well tested charger to the laptop.

If it powers on, then it and charges, then it means the laptop is working fine, but if it does not charge, then it means the connection port of the laptop is bad.Hope this information was helpful.

My laptop will not charge when the charger is plugged in. I tried removing the battery and turning it on while it was plugged in. Is my computer messed up or is it just the charger. Also my warranty has...

Your laptop still not charge even with the battery removed?
I guess you need a new adapter. Or you can test with a known working adapter first.
