The thread keeps coming off the take up lever on my Quilt 50 Toyota Quiltmaster while sewing.

take a piece of tape and put the tape of the take up lever or take a pair of pliers and close the take up lever just enough so the thread will not come off. I had the same thing happen on one of my sewing machines.

Remove the top thread from the machine.
ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread the top.
Be sure that your top thread follows the correct thread path.
Set the top tension to the midway point.
Re-test your machine.

Tension is a tug-of-war between the top and bobbin threads. Correct tension is when both threads meet in the middle of the fabric. If the bobbin thread is laying on the underside of the fabric, the top tension needs to be increased so it will pull the bobbin thread up into the fabric. If the top thread is pulling the bobbin thread up to the top of the fabric, then the top tension needs to be loosened.

TIPS:
FWIW, thread tension is not static. Tension will need to be adjusted probably every time you start a new project. Test it on a piece of scrap fabric from the project and adjust it BEFORE beginning the project. Remember to change the needle often--probably every time a new project is started or every 8 hours of sewing time. Be sure to use the correct type and size needle based on the fabric & thread you are sewing. Also, AVOID old or bargain bin thread!

Stitch too tight on top, too loose on bottom

This is a problem with thread tension. The needle thread is too tight and the bobbin thread is too loose. I don't have one of these machines, but there should be either screws or knobs to adjust. Look at your manual. Here's a page I found on bobbin tension.

I have a Toyota RS2000 sewing machine. The thread has suddenly started breaking, and I am getting big bundles of thread under the fabric. What is wrong please?

try a top thread tension of 4

change to a new needle

clean under the needle plate & in bobbin area for lint or loose threads

also rethread machine top thread & bobbin just incase thread is catching somewhere

make sure the thread doesn't come off the thread take up lever

check to see if there are any burrs on the needle plate or the bobbin

I have a rs2000 sd/u series and l am having problems after a needle snaped it will not pick up the thread from the bobin case

Check first that you have put the needle in the correct way round, if that is okay then you will need to retime the machine, I can attach timing instructions if you email me and remind me of your machine and letting me know if your bobbin drops in or goes in a seperate bobbin case drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk
