More likely the power supply/inverter board may have failed due to bad DC caps which happen after about 2~3 years.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed Viewsonic and all others monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

ViewSonic LCD (VA1912w) Went Blank

I am using this great LCD for about an year. But few times in the past my LCD didnt show up the display though the Green light was still ON, turning off the LCD and opening it again always solved the problem. But now My LCD completely went blank. Turning off/on didnt work at all now. I've tried couple of other tweaks mentioned on this site but they didnt work. I am just seeing a blank screen with green light ON. and ya theres a very low hissing sound coming from the LCD.

Power light is on, but no video. also cant get menus to turn on

I take it you are talking about the monitor menus. If this is the case, suspect a bad monitor. Try another monitor to see if it works. That will tell you for sure.

My Monitor just stopped working. No pop, no fade, just dead. Oh, sorry it is an optiquest Q19wb says manufactured in 10/2006. bought 1.5 years ago at best buy. Worth trying to fix or dump it??

Optiquest is the Viewsonic low end products. You can take it apart and look inside.

Viewsonic VX2255wm - worked this morning - dead this afternoon?

The problem you have sounds like the inverter board has failed it can be repaired by replacing the inverter board which may be a cheaper option than buying a whole new monitor, you can do a search online for lcd repairs and spares to find the part you looking just state your make and model and price one up.

But before you do do that, and you feel confident that you could take the back cover off the monitor, you could have a look for blown capacitors, they are quite a comman fault in lcd monitors, once the back cover is off check the power supply board, it will be where the power cord plugs into the monitor, The capaciters are barrel like in shape with silver tops, check for any leakage from them or on the board surrounding the capacitors, also make sure they are fully flat at the top, if they are slightly domed or pretruded they will need to changed. post back your findings if you do find any bad caps ill will try to explain how to get the right ones and what do to. cheers.

Power cord connection issue---we have tried different power cords. Issue is where it connect to set. The power will come on, but the set will shut off

This failure might not be in the power cord but the internal power supply. If your LCD is older then 15-18 months for sure it needs a power supply replacement.
Symptons of a failing power supply are:
1- Set does not powers ON.
2- Turns OFF by itself.
3- Needs to be unplug to make it powers ON again.
4- When the set is ON, it produces a humming noise through the speakers.

You can find a power supply replacement visiting this website and you should be able to replace it yourself.
