Question about Dell Latitude D610 Notebook

2 Answers

My Dell D610 laptop will not turn on if the A/C power unit is not connected to the laptop even when I've charged the battery for several hours. I recently changed the battery pack, thinking that was the issue but I'm still having the same problem. Any idea of what the problem is?

This means that a contact at the battery level is not right and the only way that it receives the power is from the cable ...so ..what you will have to do is to check the contacts of the battery ...The damage may be on view...on the battery location or inside on the level of the motherboard....

You can even take a look by yourself on the battery location and see if that blades are on the right spot and make contact ...if there is nothing obvious then it means that it may be inside ..but it may as well be something simple like a bent connection blade...

  • balfam_renta Jul 31, 2010

I just did. By the "blades", I suppose u mean the grooved area that battery uses to fit into the laptop. They appear to fit in properly. But it still will not turn on without A/C cord.

If it's a bent connection blade, will that be on the inside or outside of the battery? What are the chances that a new battery will also have a bent connection blade?

yeah ,,that's what I meant ..the connection area..to be not oxidized or something like that ..but it appears t be in order it may be a connection inside that is broken ...cause if the laptop function perfect with the ac cord the only thing that may be wrong is the connectivity with the battery ..

By the way ..I see that you are reffering at the battery ..I actually mean the laptop side .....cause if you got a new battery there is no chance that it has the same issue ...So the issue is inside the laptop ...or on the laptop's connection points ..

How long for battery recharging D610 ?

when the computer is turned off, the AC adapter charges a completely discharged battery to 80 percent in about 1 hour and to 100 percent in approximately 2 hours. Charge time is longer with the computer turned on. You can leave the battery in the computer for as long as you like. The battery's internal circuitry prevents the battery from overcharging. So About 2 to 3 hrs

When you connect the computer to an electrical outlet or install a battery while the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the computer checks the battery charge and temperature. If necessary, the AC adapter then charges the battery and maintains the battery charge.
If the battery is hot from being used in your computer or being in a hot environment, the battery may not charge when you connect the computer to an electrical outlet.

Have dell d610 battery light flashes 4 times red then one green, can't unplug

I would take note of the message you are getting and buy a new battery. I believe the red flashing lights mean that one or more of the cells in the battery are dying, and it's best not to turn off alarm lights like these. Did the battery hold charge for a longer period than one hour before you started to see the flashing light warning?

Why wont my dell D610 charge i have changed the battery and charger

Hey!

If you are still encountering the problem charging your laptop's battery, it is possible that the port where you connect the adapter or the port for the battery is damaged. It will still receive power but it won't charge.

Best solution is to replace the motherboard. Just make sure you would get the exact same devices on a replacement board.

Hope this helps! :D

LIGHT COMES ON AC ADAPTER BUT GOES OFF WHEN PLUGGED INTO NOTEBOOK

This is possibly an internal power Supply fault. take the battery out, plug in the adapter, IF the unit works now, you have A: A battery problem, or B: a charging circuit problem. If the unit still fails to work, the power supply in the PC has faulted. You need to get a "Quote: for a repair.

Looks like you need a new battery. Same thing happened with a DELL XPS, once the new battery was in place, all was fine.

Battery will not charge on a dell d610 when plugged into outlet

I have seen this with faulty batteries.
Try changing the battery.
Also, check in the BIOS that the adapter you are using is recognised and shows a state of charging with the battery in.

Dell D610 Batteries don't charge when AC adater is plugged

this is usually a sign of a common problem with these laptops. Usually the power works but it will not power the batteries to charge them. If the power adapter is fine- you have a bad motherboard.
