Deleting a program

I am trying to delete a program that has changed the font on my calculator, but it seems to be locked. Is there anyway to unlock it? (one of my students put the program on there!!)

i am trying to delete a program

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2008

I think I have the same problem. I have a TI-Nspire with a 84+Silver Edition Graphic Calculator Keypad (I can take the Nspire Keypad out and switch between the two). I had downloaded a program that was for the 83, not 83+. For whatever reason, it didn't work. Then I decided to delete it. Do you know that bar, in the top right when your calculators busy (e.g., making a graph)? Well, it was up. It is now 12 hours since I tried to delete it. The calculator is still on, and it's still busy! I tried pushing every button and button combination, but it won't budge! I even tried replacing the batteries and switching keypads, but when the calculator starts back up, it automaticly goes back to being busy deleting the 1 program!!!

If it is indeed a forgien language app, then it will be locked until it is disabled.  To disable it, open the app corresponding to the language that you are using, and select English.  If that doesn't work, let me know.

Can you provide more details? Can you read it? Is it in a foreign language? Does it appear to work the same (2x2 still equals 4)?

If if has been switched to a foreign language, you need to go to Apps, then chose any language (English doesn't appear, Dansk will probably be the first one you see), then select 2: English.

I need to reset my TI-89 Titanium

There is several ways to reset the Ti-89 Titanium calculator. Other than the one shown to you by K24674, just hit [2nd] [MEM] [F1] instead of [diamond] [MEM] [F1], then:
Press [1:RAM] then select [1: All RAM] or [2: Defaults] and [ENTER] to reset the RAM.
Since you didn't give him four thumbs up because, he did what you stated. I'll tell you other ways to do a reset. The reason is because, you may have a locked up calculator that seems impossible to reset.

Push [2nd] [MEM] then [F1] [3] [ENTER] for yes to reset everything.

If your have downloaded 3rd party shells, games and programs and your calculator is locked up, you may need to take out all the batteries including the small circular one for about 4 hours or more.

If this doesn't work you will have to deal with it, possibly by deleting out what you can to free the calculator up to start operating properly, and re-installing the OS software.

Actually most people don't even need to reset their calculator memory. It is usually just a single variable that their using that is what hanging them up. Just execute the NewProb command to delete all single variables in the folder that your working in by pushing [2nd] [F1] [2] [ENTER]. This only deletes single variables a to z. This method is unlikely to miss you up with other programs, functions that are not archived or can be mistakenly deleted on your calculator. Works real good while working out of the main folder. Hope this helps you!

What misses these calculators up a lot is stuff downloaded off the internet. Ti 84 even the APPS seem to miss up. It seems like your calculator is trying to execute a bad APP shell or program. Try to free it up or delete any foreign programming if you have any on the calculator.

Memory error TI-89

Before you do any deleting, go back and make sure the structure on the input equation is correct. If what's given you the problem is archived, clearing RAM won't help. You have to unarchive it before you can delete it, if archived. Memory error could be that you out did a limit, and running to large of a program. [2nd] [VarLink] should take you to an area like my main folder is at (pictured below). First put a check mark next to what you want unarchived using the [F4] key. Then select [F1] manage key and the [9] key. Use the F1 manage key to unarchive, unlock, and delete.

Now to delete, I use the F4 key to check mark the folder then [F1] and [1] key to delete. Remember FixYa to help you with your Ti 89.

I keep getting variable or flash application in use on my TI-89 Titanium whever I try to launch any application, what should i do?

I think you have a conflict with another program in the main folder that happens to be a program that may be used by that APP. You may go to main folder and delete or unarchive or unlock programs or varibles that may be used by the APP's. I would go ahead and delete it, but, you can copy it somewhere else. Then again it may because the program/varible is in a folder other than main that is used by APP's. Try and find it and delete it.

How do I protect programs from deletion? So that even permanent deletion won't exactly delete it. Cheers

Your calculator comes with APPS, but probably didn't come with programs unless you've downloaded some from the TI site or linked a program from another calculator.

Your APPS or programs cannot be deleted without going through the memory mgt/del screen. In other words, you can't press APPS, arrow down to the APP and hit the delete key and delete your APP.

If for some reason you accidentally delete a TI APP or a program, I think as long as you have registered you calculator with TI, you can download the missing APP or program from their site.

To disable APPS & programs (necessary for some standardized tests). With the calculator off, hold down the left and right arrow keys at the same time then press on. A disable screen will come up and you can choose to disable them. However if you do this you will not be able to use them again until you enable them again.

To enable, link to another calculator and send an app or program from that calculator to yours. This will turn your apps and programs back on.

TI-83 plus graphing calculator

This can easily be fixed. An Archived program can't be deleted or run. So you just have to unarchive it. hit "2nd" then "+" then go down to where it says "Mem Mgmt/Del" and hit enter. then hit all. There should be a "*" next to the program you can't run. now just hit enter and in a couple seconds it will be unarchived and the * will go away. Then you can delete or run that program. Hope this helps alot. Good luck
