I am trying to delete a program that has changed the font on my calculator, but it seems to be locked. Is there anyway to unlock it? (one of my students put the program on there!!)

i am trying to delete a program

  • Anonymous Oct 08, 2008

I think I have the same problem. I have a TI-Nspire with a 84+Silver Edition Graphic Calculator Keypad (I can take the Nspire Keypad out and switch between the two). I had downloaded a program that was for the 83, not 83+. For whatever reason, it didn't work. Then I decided to delete it. Do you know that bar, in the top right when your calculators busy (e.g., making a graph)? Well, it was up. It is now 12 hours since I tried to delete it. The calculator is still on, and it's still busy! I tried pushing every button and button combination, but it won't budge! I even tried replacing the batteries and switching keypads, but when the calculator starts back up, it automaticly goes back to being busy deleting the 1 program!!!

If it is indeed a forgien language app, then it will be locked until it is disabled.  To disable it, open the app corresponding to the language that you are using, and select English.  If that doesn't work, let me know.

Can you provide more details? Can you read it? Is it in a foreign language? Does it appear to work the same (2x2 still equals 4)?

If if has been switched to a foreign language, you need to go to Apps, then chose any language (English doesn't appear, Dansk will probably be the first one you see), then select 2: English.

I understand that you are having issue with the fonts in windows 7 64 bit operating system. You can restore the default font and remove any changes that you've made to your display settings from Appearance and Personalization.
Here's how:

a. Open Fonts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Fonts.
b. In the left pane, click Font settings.
c. Click Restore default font settings.

Note

This also removes all manual changes that you've made to your display settings.

Refer the links for the information on;

Tip

How to delete files that are used by other programs in windows XP/Vista?

Hello,

Today tip will help you to delete the files and folders that are being used by another programs and applications, for example a virus affected file. You have tried to delete such kind of files or folders and received the any following messages.

· Cannot delete file: the file is in use by the other program
· Cannot delete file: There has been a sharing violation
· Cannot delete file: The file is in use by another program or user
· Cannot delete file: Disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
· Cannot delete file: The source or destination file may be in use

Normally, a windows restart will allow you to delete such files or folders that are being used by other program, but if you want to manage it without restart your computer then simply you need to download a freeware tool called Unlocker.

You can download this tool for any windows version using Unlocker link. Download it and run the easy setup.

After installation, right click on file or folder that you want to delete and select the option Unlocker.

If your requested file or folder is used or locked by other application then a small window listing of lockers will appear.

Here simply click on “Unlock All” button and now you can easily delete this file.

Thanks,

Bhautesh.

Clear programs from graphing calculator

Press 2nd [MEM] to bring up the Memory menu. Select 2 to bring up the Memory Management/Delete menu. Select the type of data to delete, or select 1 for all types. Use the up/down-arrows to move to the item to delete and press the DEL key. You'll get a confirmation screen for programs and apps.

I need to reset my TI-89 Titanium

There is several ways to reset the Ti-89 Titanium calculator. Other than the one shown to you by K24674, just hit [2nd] [MEM] [F1] instead of [diamond] [MEM] [F1], then:
Press [1:RAM] then select [1: All RAM] or [2: Defaults] and [ENTER] to reset the RAM.
Since you didn't give him four thumbs up because, he did what you stated. I'll tell you other ways to do a reset. The reason is because, you may have a locked up calculator that seems impossible to reset.

Push [2nd] [MEM] then [F1] [3] [ENTER] for yes to reset everything.

If your have downloaded 3rd party shells, games and programs and your calculator is locked up, you may need to take out all the batteries including the small circular one for about 4 hours or more.

If this doesn't work you will have to deal with it, possibly by deleting out what you can to free the calculator up to start operating properly, and re-installing the OS software.

Actually most people don't even need to reset their calculator memory. It is usually just a single variable that their using that is what hanging them up. Just execute the NewProb command to delete all single variables in the folder that your working in by pushing [2nd] [F1] [2] [ENTER]. This only deletes single variables a to z. This method is unlikely to miss you up with other programs, functions that are not archived or can be mistakenly deleted on your calculator. Works real good while working out of the main folder. Hope this helps you!

What misses these calculators up a lot is stuff downloaded off the internet. Ti 84 even the APPS seem to miss up. It seems like your calculator is trying to execute a bad APP shell or program. Try to free it up or delete any foreign programming if you have any on the calculator.

I am running Microsoft Works 8. I am not running vista. I have XP Media Center Edition version 2002 SP2 Word processor will not open, nor will previously created documents. this seemed to have...

I have my doubts that the installation of OpenOffice was the problem.

Having said that i now need to say that if you opened any of the Works files with open office and then saved them, it saves in its own format unless you stipulate to save the file in the works format. You may already know this and i am telling grammy how to make cup cakles. it is just that I am an avid user of OO and works on my own PC and to date never had a problem with either being in the same environment.

Having it report about FONT cache sounds like a font was used in OO that is not recognised by Works so it throws a hiccup. Have you got a file you can share with someone local that was created with works on your PC that you can ask someone else to open and see if it throws a fit when asked to open it?

I have also visited OO.org to see if thyere are any known conflicts with MSWorks but there are non listed I can see.

I keep getting variable or flash application in use on my TI-89 Titanium whever I try to launch any application, what should i do?

I think you have a conflict with another program in the main folder that happens to be a program that may be used by that APP. You may go to main folder and delete or unarchive or unlock programs or varibles that may be used by the APP's. I would go ahead and delete it, but, you can copy it somewhere else. Then again it may because the program/varible is in a folder other than main that is used by APP's. Try and find it and delete it.

How do I protect programs from deletion? So that even permanent deletion won't exactly delete it. Cheers

Your calculator comes with APPS, but probably didn't come with programs unless you've downloaded some from the TI site or linked a program from another calculator.

Your APPS or programs cannot be deleted without going through the memory mgt/del screen. In other words, you can't press APPS, arrow down to the APP and hit the delete key and delete your APP.

If for some reason you accidentally delete a TI APP or a program, I think as long as you have registered you calculator with TI, you can download the missing APP or program from their site.

To disable APPS & programs (necessary for some standardized tests). With the calculator off, hold down the left and right arrow keys at the same time then press on. A disable screen will come up and you can choose to disable them. However if you do this you will not be able to use them again until you enable them again.

To enable, link to another calculator and send an app or program from that calculator to yours. This will turn your apps and programs back on.

Fonts missing

Try a system restore to a time previous to that where the fonts were deleted. Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore That should do the trick. If not, do a repair install on your partition with a Windows XP disc, that would also solve your problem - but try the system restore first. Good luck.
