Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I've owned this camera Nikon F65 for a few years and it was working perfectly, but I haven't used it for the past year or so and now it just stopped working! I put fresh batteries in, lights come on and all functions are displayed ok, but the shutter isn't releasing and it isn't taking any pictures as if all the functions are disabled, no use pressing the shutter as nothing happens. I'd really appreciate your advice on this matter, thanks!

Thanks.. It didn't work though, it's very frustrating.

I wrote to Nikon for help and support and all they wrote back is that they can't assist me unless I post the camera to them, they could have at least give me some tips on what they think the problem is!

Some times you can gently tap the camera on its side while pushing the shutter button and free it loose.

Why has my flash stopped working on my COOLIX Nikon digital camera

This equipment is now over 8 1/2 years old. Things wear out. Sounds as if it's time for a replacement - repair is likely to be cost-prohibitive.

Nikon D300s shutter button not working intermittently. Have to turn off and on to get back to work. It's not a focus problem. I've been using this camera daily for a year.

Sounds like you have a bad release switch. The switch is a bunch of stacked rectangular metal leaves, and they develop metal fatigue or just crack with heavy use. Unfortunately Nikon stopped selling parts July 13th, 2012 so you are pretty much out of luck trying to fix it yourself or find a reasonably priced independent servicer to fix it for you. [You might get lucky and find one that still has the part in stock, or find someone selling them on Ebay]. You will most likely have to send it to Nikon. Good luck.

I have a Nikon D3000 SLR. My lens zoom should range from 18-55mm but for some reason it won't go past 24 (so is stuck from 18-24mm) I have tried everything to fix this, including changing settings and...

Whatever you do, don't force it. Unlike your camera, which has just a 1 year factory warranty, Nikon lenses are warranted to be free from defects for 5 years; and is likely still under warranty.

Contact Nikon Service to have the lens properly serviced / repaired. Having it looked at by an unauthorized repairer or even "messing with it" yourself could void the warranty.

I hope this helps! Please rate my reply - thanks!

Whenever i upload a video to my computer it turns out choppy and slow. I downloaded Nikon Transfer and after using it my videos are still choppy. What do I do about this?

I'm a video game programmer with 20 years experience in software, and have a reasonable understanding movie playback software.

I also have a Nikon (S6100) and the problem is nothing to do with PC memory or CPU speed. The Nikon creates a broken version of the MPEG-4 AVC H.264 format, which results in choppy playback. I've tried Quicktime, VLC and the cameras own player - ViewNX2 - same result for all of them.

Converting the buggy .MOV files the Nikon creates to a .avi format produces perfectly smooth (flawless) video, but with the sound out of sync. I can also create perfect quality (lower res) DVD video, but with the sound missing.

I have spoken to Nikon about all this and they are quite simply clueless and will take no responsibility. As there is no firmware up[date for this camera I'm taking the camera back, as it is basically flawed.

I've read a few sites with customers complaining about choppy video for this camera, so it looks like the model itself is flawed.

Nikon D40X stopped auto-focusing yesterday

I had the same problem. My issue was with all my lenses. I solved it by going to the menu and selecting the custom setting menu (pencil icon). Then from the right menu select the AE-L/AF-L and press OK. Then make sure it is set on AE/AF Lock. Presto...all my lenses worked on auto-focus.
