The printer info says that it is compatible with Windows 7 and I can not find any updates for this printer after 2008. You should also know that I am a good electrician but pretty much a moron when it comes to computers. Thanks for the help.

Have you tryed going to the website of the Printer in question to see if there is any Updates available for the printer? It could be they have discontinued the printer or perhaps dont make them anymore.Try to update the driver for the bluetooth device.Maybe that needs updating. To update a device such as your bluetooth go to Start menu then click on yuour Control Panel then click on Performance and Maintenance .At the that you may see System click on that then click on Device Manager there you will see a list of things you can update and your computer will update this things plus it will troubleshoot the device should their be any problem. It will tell you if the device needs an update if it does follow the prompts. At the top in the menu you will have the option to troubleshoot and update and scan for hardware changes if nescessary. .Just click on what you want to troubleshoot, scan for changes or update the drivers. You must have an internet connection to do all of this. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Just plug the adapter into your printer's USB port, pair it with your Bluetooth device, and you're ready to start printing.

I have this problem on my Canon MP210 Scanner that doesn't work! I even re-installed the driver, but nothing worked but the copier works. That mean that the hardware works correctly.

First try a different data cable and a different port. If you use a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection. Check that a known working device can connect to the computer. Check the device manager and power saving settings. What message do you see in the Devices and Printers window (Printers and Faxes for Win XP) for the MP210? What error messages do you for printing and scanning?

For Windows 7, Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager. Look for a triangle with a yellow exclamation point or a red x at the bottom of the list at Universal Serial Bus Controllers. You can try updating the drivers for the USB controller or uninstalling them and then rebooting the machine. (The computer should find and install new drivers automatically. However, you should also check in Windows Update for them (check for new updates - optional and important).) With some computers this could be the result of static at the USB ports. Disconnect all of the external devices and the power cord (computer and the outlet). For a laptop, also remove the battery. Then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then put the battery back in (if applicable) and reconnect all of your cables.

For the power savings settings, again for Windows 7, right click on the desktop (anywhere there are no icons or running programs). Select Personalize. Then click on Screen Saver then choose Change Plan Settings. Next click on Change Plan Settings (for the active plan). Then click on Advanced Plan Settings. Scroll down to USB selective suspend.

Did you install the Canon driver, full software or the OS driver? Can you print any documents? (Sometimes the scanner will not respond but the printer still works.) If you have documents in the print spooler, you may need to stop and restart the spooler. (One way to do this is to launch the Command Prompt window (run as administrator for Vista or Windows 7). Start > All Programs > Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and choose Run As Administrator. Type "net stop spooler" without the quotes followed by enter. On the next line, type "net start spooler" again without the quotes and press enter. Now restart the computer.

If the printer works, but the scan buttons do not. If you connected the USB cable before installing the Canon driver, you have a generic driver that may not run the scanner. Uninstall the driver, unplug the data cable and then reboot the computer. Then install the full featured software (if available) from Canon http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp210?selectedName=Specifications#DriversAndSoftware . Next try to scan from the computer. You need to set up the full software with destinations for the scanner buttons and the monitoring program must be running. (If you use the basic driver, the scan buttons will not work. In Windows XP, Vista or 7, you can acquire scans with Paint. File > Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan. Vista comes with Photo Gallery that can also do this (it can be downloaded for XP and Win7). Vista and Windows 7 also include Windows Fax and Scan to acquire scans.

If the unit still fails to work at the current computer, try connecting it to another (with known working USB ports). If it still fails, then the USB port has failed in the all-in-one. This could be another static issue. With the printer on, unplug the cables (data and power from the printer, outlet and the computer). Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to a minute. If this doesn't help, if the printer is under warranty ask Canon to repair it.

I hope this helps.

Dell Studio SPX computer loaded with Widoes 7 working in wi- fi environment trying to wirelessly print to a Canon ip100 using a BU-30 bluetooth wireless devise. HOW DO I CONFIGURE THE WIRELESS DEVISE TO MY...

Found this on the Newegg website. Hope this helps.
If you want to go Bluetooth wireless (and you should) be aware that you must use the Toshibia Bluetooth "Stack" driver and not the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack driver on Window's PC's. I found this out by going to Canon's website and downloading the "full" online manual. It has a very nice section on setting up Bluetooth. Anyway, no problem as newegg has a very nice "Zoom" brand Bluetooth PC-Card for laptops that uses the Toshiba Drivers. Just pop in the CD that comes with the PC-Card and follow directions. You can go to Toshiba's website and download latest "stack" driver later. It's a little tricky to get the upload to "take" but it will work. Newegg should offer the PC-Card as an optional bundle (with the printer)like they do the Canon printer's Bluetooth adapter. This way you get everything you need and know that they all work together. I wish newegg sold the battery too.

My Macbook is bluetooth capable. My PIXM MP480 seems to be bluetooth equipped. Can't get the two to communicate. Do I need some other piece of hardware to make it work?

Hi,

The printer Canon PIXM MP480 is bluetooth enabled ( which is optional ) but it is not fully functional without a Bluetooth unit BU-30 ( bluetooth dongle )

The printer has Bluetooth enabled adapter which means you will need a bluetooth dongle to make it work with your Macbook. You will have to connect the Canon Bluetooth unit BU-30 to the printer and enable to bluetooth function on the printer to be detected by your macbook.

You will be able to purchase the Canon Bluetooth unit BU-30 at any nearest stores ( bestbuy, walmart, costco etc ) for a price of $30 to $50 Approx. depending on the offers you will avail from different merchants/stores.

Hope this answer was helpful.

COMPUTER SAYS PRINTER IS OFF LINE HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE CABLES

Hi,
did you try uninstalling the printer drivers and re-installing?
Drivers are here:

http://support-au.canon.com.au/P/search?model=PIXMA%20iP100&filter=0&menu=Download

Assuming you are running WinXP go here:
http://support-au.canon.com.au/P/search?model=PIXMA+iP100&menu=download&filter=0&tagname=g_os&g_os=Windows%20XP

If you are using something else like Vista or Windows 7, change the selection at the right hand side of the web page, then select the driver software. Do not select x64 unless you are running a 64 bit operating system. It is highly likely you are running a 32 bit version of XP, Vista or Win7.

Does the printer get recognized on another laptop or computer? If it gets recognized then there is nothing wrong with the printer and cable. In that case, on your computer it's the driver or perhaps you have a dodgy USB port. Can you try another USB port on your computer?
Cheers,
Steve

Bluetooth

My MP500 has a normal flat USB plug in.  Turn off your printer and just try plugging in a normal USB cable into that slot...You can use the printer cable if you want. Haven't rec'd the BU20 yet, but don't think it will be a problem.
