Unplug foxtel three video pins cable and plug yellow video cable of dvd then play it, you will get correct and clear picture in video input.
You can not plug composite and component video at same time in video input of tv, that is cause of your problem.
Thanks

Could u tell me how to unlock the panel lock of a hitachi plasma model number 42pd580dta

No, but Hitachi can or if you have the owner manual it will have that if the set has that feature----Google the model number for "manual" or "unlock keyboard" etc.

My Plasma 42PD580DTA

I assume your DVD is coming up in colour when you plug it into a standard scart connector? Have you tried using a different S-Video cable because this sound symptomatic of a dodgy lead?
Check the SCART end of your lead for any bent or broken pins.

Failing that if the problem lies with the TV itself I'd really recommend having a pro look at it. Plasma's are expensive and opening it up if you don't know what you are doing is a bad idea.

I need to know how to hook my DVD player to ,y Samsung TV. I have it hooked up and have a picture but its in black and white.

look on the back of the television and the DVD player, there should be a SCART socket and/or red, white and yellow AV sockets, either use a SCART lead and connect it to the SCART on the DVD player and the TV.Or use an AV lead with 3 auxiliary shape connectors and match the colour of each connector with the female sockets on both the TV and the DVD player instead of using the other component connections.

Trying to set up Wii console with Hitachi 42PD580DTA, but there is no AV channel so what do you switch to when trying to operate the Wii?? where do I put the cables? sooooo lost??

You should have various input connections on the back of the tv. Use the red, white (audio) and yellow (video) connections. The remote should have a button that lets you select which input to use. After connecting the wii, turn it on and try all the input selections until you see the wii screen

Black Screen

You really need to check your video connections. It sounds like you have the sound cables connected properly, but not the video cables. Are you using the component connection (blue, green, red, white, red) or RCA (yellow, white, red)?? Make sure the color coded ends are plugged into the right places. If you've done this then your display is shot and you'll need to get your warranty paperwork out or call a local repair shop. Good luck!!

Plasma Tv 42PD580DTA, Black and white screen while viewing DVDs or Video

Hi there,
My sister-in-law has exactly the same problem and is a common one with this unit.
I've spoken to a technician who says that:
1. Hitachi are withdrawing from Australia and there are VERY limited service centres left
2. The problem is a chip on the main board and depending when the TV was made will determine whether the chip is a plu-in or soldered on to the main board - if it's the latter, you'll be up for a main board at around $400
3. He couldn't get the price of the plug-in chip because he couldn't get through to Hitachi.

Cheers

Connecting playstation

good day,
i am eltoyosi and am here to help you.
the first question i will ask you is this.....does your TV set have an av-output?
if it does then make sure you plug the AV cords from the game in the following manner...........
the yellow cord is for picture display and make sure it goes into the yellow cord on your TV set.
the red and white cords are both for sounds of the left and right speakers on your TV set. try this connection and you are set to have fun with your game,
thanks.
