Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Samsung HT-SK5 5 disk DVD plyer, when I put a disk in, it will sometimes take a long time to "load disk", sometimes I have to open/close a few times for it to actually load, then when it does start to play, it will stop/start throughout watching the movie, sometimes it will stop and not start again, now when we try to load a disk it will say "protection" on the unit, then it turns itself off, the unit is about 5 years old now.

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).

The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load DVD. The weak lens is also what's making it take time to load and sometimes not load at all.

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.

By so doing your player would play all DVD with no problem at all. This should also solve other problems.

Good luck.

    Hello,

No, its not difficult to fix.

Concerning, the price, it varies, so I wouldn't be able to give you a specific amount because we don't stay in the same area (vicinity). In my area it cost about $10 to buy a lens.

    Take care.

My HT-E5400 disk tray opens and closes without command being selected.

You may be triggering that action by selecting some other device using the remote. For example, the same remote I use for the VCR also causes the DVD player tray to open and close.

I have a Digital Home Theater HT-DS400 Samsung. I have problems in reading a music CD or a DVD. You can read the message "Loading.." for a while and then stops and reads "NO DISC". ...

  • Make sure you have a non home made DVD. Some DVD players will not play DVD'S in certain formats.
  • If you have a normal DVD in the DVD player and are getting "NO Disk" then there is a real good possibility the lens is just so dirty that it is not recognizing your DVD at all. This happens a lot to all disk players that are neglected from the cleaning process. Get a disk player cleaner and run it through a few times until the disk is read again. Sometimes the lens is so dirty you have to try a few times just to get the cleaner disk itself to play just to do the actual cleaning. Make sure to run that cleaner disk through once a week. These disk cleaners "sweep" the lens and work well. You can get one at your local Best Buy for $8usd.
  • The last thing it could be is that somehow the lens has come out of alignment. Just a millimeter out of alignment is all it takes to not be able to read a disk and DVD players get bumped and knocked off the shelf easy. So this can happen often especially with the more smaller travel DVD player.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

My Samsung HT-Z210 Home Theatre System is crazy. Sometimes it plays the disks but most of the times it would sound as if it is trying to load a few times and then displays disk error and if it does play...

Check for fingerprints or dirt on your DVD. Wipe it clean and try again. Also check for scratches. Try another DVD and see if your system reads it. If it does not try cleaning the drive laser lens with a CD lens cleaner available at places such as KMart or WalMart in the electronic section. If that still does not work chances are you laser on your drive is bad and needs replaced. It will need servicing.

Dvd sometimes reads error

If this problem occurs only at this dvd it's a disk problem. If it occurs on various disks try using a cd/dvd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. That way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush".

My HT-z310 dvd player does not read when i put dvd in

Try manually pushing dvd drawer in after pushing open/close. I opened mine up and noticed the dvd is not spinning - I don't think the drawer is completely closing over. BTW this is not a permanent fix - it doesn't work all the time.

Samsung HT-Z410: ''Disc Error''

It's not the lens. It's the bottom plate on the disk pickup. Dust gets on the rubber pieces (there are three oval shaped pads) that do not adhere properly to the disk which causes the disk to turn too slowly for the lens to read it properly. Clean those off with alcohol swabs and let dry. Also blow off all the dust in the unit since it will already be open. I have also decided to leave a disk in the player so that dust will not have a chance to get on those bumpers again. I did this last weekend and have not had problems since.

Samsung HT-DB120 DVD tray

I assume it DID work at one time. You need to take it apart and see how the tray is driven... belt or gear. If belt driven you could replace the belt.
