Just ordered another P1130 (I have 2 already) thru the mail. Was fine when shipped, but now it has Very Very Very bad convergence! I think the magnets on the rear of the picture tube have been displaced in shipping, but I cannot find out how to open the monitor. I am a 3rd year student in Electronics Technology and am doing this under supervision of a trained instructor. Please tell me how to open the case!
Wow a cathode RAY tube display wow. its Back to the future day?
its junk ,why mess with these.
its obsolete, and retired and no listed as Legacy HP
there is no support now. nor parts
the only way to fix it, is mixing parts between 2,3,4 more units.
and ebay used parts. (pigs in a poke sack)
they make hard to open on purpose
so kids dont get killed touching the 2nd anode, High volteage 5,000 volts. even more on 21" CRT.
tricks used?
1: very very deep set screws
2: security screws
3; and the magic hidden plastic lever inside to trip.
the books are not available now, the service manual
google for that yet that be first after seeing , no schematics and no part sold. user guide yes.

SOURCE: Monitor was shipped with poor
Well you have confirmed the monitor is the problem, the main board in the back of the screen is probably cracked and not salvageable and is a right off, the people who shipped it must have insured the package which you can put a claim on, and I would encourage you to do that.
