Question about GE Refrigerators

1 Answer

I own a 12 year old GE Profile Side by Side refrigerator is leaking underneath. I have checked the hoses from the wall to the back of the refrigerator and there aren't any holes in it. What else can I check?

The condensate drain pipe to the drip pan is clear of s..t(syringe with clorine bleach)
check to ensure no ice buildup on back of unit/inside of unit.
door seals are tight all round frame(airleaks will cause excess condensation to build up.)

its either the ptc overload on the compressor thats shut down the compressor,or if the inner freezer back wall is frosted over then its the defrost heater or thermostat on the evaporator coil, the heater on these is very prone to burn out,its a glass tube heater about 12" long and the part # is AP3183311 at appliance parts pros for about $50.00

GE Side By Side Ice Machine & Water dispenser not getting water

you may have a pin hole in your water line to your dispenser or you could be leaking at the water valve itself on the water dispenser side. you'll have to pull the refrigerator out from the wall and look where the main water line goes into the back of the refrigerator. you will probably have to take the back off to see. be sure you put the back of the refrigerator back when you are through.

A GE Profile Model, double door refrigerator with a water leak

If the leak is on the refrig water valve where the wall water line connects to , then use a 1/2" wrench and tighten the fitting on the water valve itself . If the leak is on the plastic tubing at the bottom of the refrig water valve , pull up on the small white ring while pushing down on the plastic tube to remove it from the valve . Cut off about 1 " of the tubing and reinsert it into the valve with pretty good pressure to be sure it is inserted completely .

Where is drip pan on profile side-by-side

That is from your defrost drain either being clogged with food, or covered with ice. Behind the back wall in the freezer is a drain that empties underneath the fridge. If that drain gets blocked or froze over then the water will dump into the floor of the freezer and out the door gasket.

Ge profile side By side ice maker water leak

This sounds like the float mechanism has gone bad. Remove it and have a look. It may be the float or the switch on it that is bad. There is also a solenoid valve. Parts kits are available. Shut off the water first!
