Itis compatible however you need to install the driver that is compatible with windows 7. If the cd installer doesnt support windows 7 then you need to download the latest driver in Canon Website

Could you please clarify your Canon Scanner Model number ?
In the mean time try the below solution.
There are some models that are not supported by Microsoft you can check this link : to see if your scanner is listed there and see whether it is supported by windows 7 or not.

CanoScan 8000F Installation for Windows 8.1

Unfortunately, the Canon 8000F is not compatible with Windows 8.1. You can find this at Canon choose not to write a Windows 8 or 8.1 driver for this scanner. The changes between Windows 7 and 8 mean that the old driver won't work. The compatibility mode doesn't help in this case.

You have two choices: The cheapest option (if you buy a used machine): You can get a second computer with Windows 7 or an older version of Windows installed that does support the Canon 8000F. Alternatively, with a computer with more than 4GB of memory and a CPU that supports can support a virtual OS to buy 1) an upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro and 2) a Windows 7 license and DVD. (This will cost at around $200 for Windows 7 Home Premium and the upgrade.) Then you can add the Hyper V feature and install Windows 7 as a virtual OS with at least 2 GB of your memory assigned to virtual OS. Install the scanner in that virtual computer.

I hope this helps.

Canon Canoscan LiDE 25 shows "USB device not recognized" on Vista Home Premium 32-bit

Point # 1 : Electronic devices are not made to be used sparingly or stored for long periods of time.

Point # 2 : 5-6 years is not 'barely' in-terms of an electronic device's lifetime (Given that the warranty for your device is about 1 year !).

Point # 3 : You obviously tried almost everything on the computer site of this issue, Its time to take your device to a service center.

Hi, I have an old (1995) but absolutely perfect HP Deskwriter 600 Printer which was initially used for a Mac OS 7.0 computer. At that time printers according to Mac policy were ready made for use of only...

HP's site shows driver downloads for OS 8, OS 9 and Windows XP 64-bit. Unless the Windows driver will work with Windows 7 (unlikely) or Windows 7 already supports it, you're going to have to replace your old Deskwriter. There isn't anything you can do otherwise.

This is the same kind of problem many people faced when XP was new. Since the operating system was so different, much older software and hardware was no longer compatible. Some hardware makers came out with updated drivers, but others didn't. Either their hardware wouldn't work at all with the new OS or they figured that it wasn't worth the time for a low-cost item (especially true for printers).

Scanjet 3770 drivers for windows 7

There isn't a designated driver for windows 7 for this scanner, but I have seen some other people who have the exact same problem as you, and they were told to download the Vista drivers instead and it worked fine, so feel free to give it a shot. You can download the driver here:

And if the installer fails to begin, use Application Compatibility mode by right-clicking the install file, then click "properties" then click the tab "Compatibility", Check the box for "Run this Program..." and select from the drop down menu "Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

Hope this helps!
