You didn't mention the model so here's some information that might help you with the dis-assembly process. You might want to use a digital camera to document your dis-assembly. The pix will make it a lot easier to do the re-assembly. PS, when you finally get it back together and working, invest in a good CRD (Cable Retention Device) to take the strain off the pin and keep you from having to do the job again. I use and recommend this product.

Dell studio 17 1745 laptop don't turn on anymore. Just hear DVD drive make a little noise ( normal when turning on ) then light flash as seen in video then dies.

That looks like a pre-programed system alert code to me that activates when a certain problem arises. Check your user's manual for system alerts. If no joy, try contacting Dell and simply ask them what that particular alert means. If they want to charge you (typical of these manufacturers) throw yourself on their tender mercy and say that you are not asking them to repair it, you only want to know where you can find what that alert means. It's worked for me in the past. Also try the Dell website for your model, they may have it posted there.

Asus laptop won't power on

Here below are possible causes and troubleshooting steps of laptop that can't power on, hope it may help:
Possible causes:

1. AC adapter failure.
2. Power jack failure.
3. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solutions:
1. Test the AC adapter with a digital multimeter. It's possible that you have a failed AC adapter. If you don't have a multimeter, test your laptop with another known good AC adapter.

2.It's possible that power jack (socket where you plug the AC adapter) is broken. Remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. In some cases you can fix the jack by resoldering it on the motherboard. In other cases you have to replace the jack with a new one. Using a multimeter, test if the power goes to the motherboard through the jack.

3. If replacing the AC power adapter and jack on the motherboard doesn't help, most likely you have a bad motherboard. Replace the motherboard.

Power adapter issues...

If you can jiggle the the power cord right at where it plugs into the computer and sometimes the green light comes on, that means your DC Power Jack is bad. There was probably nothing wrong with your other power cord. When the DC Power Jack is bad the laptop will not power on if the battery is drained of all of it's power because the Power Cord can't charge the battery.

Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

My Acer 5630, suddenly cannot turn on. I already replace DC power adapter by a new one, but the problem still exist. Anybody can help me.

If you have already changed the charger, and tried running it without the battery, it sounds like you have a Mother Board failure. You should contact Acer and have it replaced.

I have a HP dv7-1240us. My power supply went bad. I purchased a new one now my cpu doesnt charge or even power up. Need some help on how to replace the power socket. I have no idea on what else it could...

Was the new one that you purchased from HP? If so, then did the model numbers of the old one match the new one you bought? If the new one isn't an HP power supply, then that could be the reason why it won't charge your battery. Some of the "after market" power supplies will be enough to run the computer, but they aren't all able to charge the battery. It could also be the DC Jack on the motherboard that has gone bad. If you are not familiar with de-soldering a component from a motherboard, then you may want to think twice before attempting it. You will have to get the exact jack that goes to your motherboard, de-solder the old jack, & solder in the new one. Trust me, de-soldering and removing an old jack isn't always as easy as it sounds. You will have to completely disassemble your laptop to do that too, so be sure to keep track of all the little screws and which screws go where. I bought a new dc power adapter but still no power to the computer. I need to find the part to replace.

You may want to check the voltages on the laptop and compare that with the power pack which the laptop should be 19v and 6.3A. if they do not match it can cause this problem. if this is not your problem, then it can mean 1 of 2 things. ether the new adapter is bad or the power jack on the computer is bad. the only way to fix the jack (in most cases) is to un-solder the old on off the motherboard and solder a new one on (you can get them from E-bay). if your not good with solder, i would suggest to get a new motherboard.

Power issue

Sony has a terrific website for support. I just bought a PCG-F610 and found everything I needed on the Sony website.

There seems to be a different model number for your unit on the Sony site. Go here:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-find.pl?mdl=pcg-7h1l+ and go through it step by step.

I love my new (old) Sony Vaio by the way. I got it on shopgoodwill.com. Goodwill doesn't put all of their stuff out locally. Some of it is held for auction and the site is shopgoodwill.com. I got the laptop for $132. Sure, it's a little older but I love it! Picked up a nice Toshiba Satellite for a song!!
