It may be that your wireless switch is turned off. Hold down the fn key at bottom left of keyboard and a drop down menu should appear. Place your cursor on the F8 selection and go to the wireless tower icon and select "All On".

If this does not solve the problem, it could be a number of other issues so, if it doesn't, please don't trash my rating by saying I was "unhelpful". You'd need to add a comment as to when it stopped working, what happened just before that, does the wireless network card show up in the "device manager".....the more information you provide us, the more helpful we can be. I can check back that way and see if I can help you troubleshoot further.

PS There should also be an actual physical wireless switch on the back bottom edge of the laptop.

Connected to wireless network, but cant browse internet.

I think there might be lost in the packet sending.
You said the PC is still connected to the network but not able to go online.
Is there any other wireless computer which is able to go online wirelessly and working fine.
If yes then try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter.
If not then check the router wireless settings.

My computer was wireless until I changed modems becausethe old one stoppd working

If you are using Windows XP, you go to start --> control panel --> network connections --> right click on wireless network connections & go to properties --> go to wireless network tab --> delete / remove all the networks under preferred network box then click on view available wireless or configure then connect to your network by clicking on the name of your modem --> type in the wireless password.

I have the card installed and drivers loaded but the card still wont pickup the wireless networks in the area

Maybe the networks are not broadcasting, and are hidden. Also you may not be close enough to them, the most common wireless routers only extend signal 500ft. Test and confirm by visiting a free local wifi hotspot or known broadcasting wireless network.
