Try it on another PC first.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

So. My Samsung 906bw monitor was working about a month ago fine. Then all of a sudden, the monitor refuses to turn on. The power light turns on and off and continues to do that but nothing happens....

I opened up 2 of my 906bw and found 3 caps in the power board bulging. They are C316, C112 and C113 they are all 25v 820uF
I'm going to replace and see what happens. Maybe try a higher V see if it helps longevity.

Samsung 906BW monitor wont turn on, power switch

rommelnmariv, 906BW will need to use warranty or if you are not a tech with soldering equiptment then unit will need to visit a tech to be evaluated for it's Black screen or It's Blank n Black screen problem. Read my older fixya responses (late 2009) and follow all links. Yes, some of these can be fixed-up (DIY) for under $10. Read my fixya profile for about an hour !!! Maybe you will ask your 906BW " What Brand of capacitors do you have inside you??" Bye for now. 12fixlouie

My SyncMaster 204B Monitor just stopped working. It worked fine this morning before I left for work, but when I arrived home, it wouldn't power up. I've been Duel Screening for about 2 yrs with no problems...

Replace the screen with a known working one. If it shows display then it is the screen which is broken, if not, then it could be the port on which it is connected.

Samsung SynchMaster906bw. Screen is black. Power button flashes.

This is 2007 monitor, time to look for bad caps in the power supply first, the problem acn also be in the inverter circuits, or bad lamps. Open it up and post back so we can guide you further, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

My wife's mom bought us a desk top p.c with this samsung 906bw

Well, seems like the CPU is the source of the problems, not the LCD Monitor.

The simple way to check it is by remove the cable from CPU unit, see for any sign such us color pattern moving or any sign.

the other way is, try using other CPU or Laptop, then connect it to the LCD Monitor. If it works, then you need to repair your CPU.

Hope it's working

I have 2 monitors connected to 1 computer using a

satservice, What happens AFTER 15 min of FLASHING?? What did unit do or act like 3-4 weeks ago? Is the screen both BLACK and BLANK? or is screen just black and you can SEE win-desktop if you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen at differnt angles? Can you use your Samsung warranty? Will monitor do same when connected to different KNOWN GOOD prebooted to desktop PC? Are you refering to the "power ON" indicator light on front BEZEL as the FLASHING thing? Need more info, but I suspect "shutdown of units "switch-mode-power-supply" due to detection of FAULT CONDITION having been detected with other circuit or with itself. Read some of my other responses in my fixya profile that deal with BLACK SCREEN repair. If this response useful, rate on fixya. 12fixlouie

Well heres the story my sister made the screen fall on the floor one day (it fell on a very soft rug) every thing worked fine no problems but then a couple months later it started with this doesnt wana...

bamboboy, Stop yelling at your sister! ! ! If it worked fine after falling to the floor then there is something else wrong! First Prove that the pc works with a KNOWN GOOD monitor. Next, you may want to do the flashlight test with your BAD lcd monitor. Reconnect monitor to an already fully booted pc with the WIN-desktop screen showing. Then and only then turn on your LCD monitor and note what happens. If still black screen is what you see, then shine a bright light about 1" from screen and look very closely to see if the desktop is being displayed even though the screen appears BLACK. If the power supply is only partly bad you may see the desktop. I suspect that you have a power supply problem from your description. You should visit YOUTUBE and search for video clips of LCD monitor disassembly and typical repairs of units that have similar BLACK screen symptoms such as yours. You need to read more posts on fixya that I and others have made on other brands of LCD monitors that have same symptom. You will find plenty of them!! Get back to me after doing test and some more research. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel on aol.com Bye for now.

Monitor cold start issue only as #2 monitor

The start up problem is common and will only get worse. Call Samsung as these monitors have a 3-year warranty. No receipt? They will accept your word regarding your purchase. I have two that failed exactly the same way. I called 1-800-SAMSUNG and they gave me the choice of an exchange pair sent directly to my house (requiring a temporary credit card deposit) or by having the exchange pair sent to the UPS store where I would swap out my bad units. No receipt. They merely asked me when I purchased it so they could have it for their records. Manufacture dates such as your (March '06) and a purchase of September '06 are not far fetched at all. .
