Hi,

This normally happens when you are trying to connect to the internet from the "Network Update", you can avoid this and connect to the internet from the "internet browser".

I tried to connect to internet from my psp2, but always connection erroe occured. Please advise how to set up wifi connection. Thanks

Hello

To connect your PSP to the Internet, you must manually configure the WiFi settings for your device. The PSP will not automatically search for and connect to available wireless

Turn on your PSP by moving the power button on the right-hand side of the console in an upward motion. Under the console's main screen, go to the "Settings" icon. This is the first icon listed and is farthest to the left. From the drop-down menu, choose the "Network Settings" option at the end of the list.

Select "Infrastructure Mode" and press the "X" button. Select the "New Connection" option to add a wireless connection to your PSP. Choose the "Scan" option to instruct your PSP to search for accessible wireless connections in your area.

Select a wireless connection from the connections your PSP is able to access. Confirm the name of the network and press the right arrow button. Confirm the security encryption settings for the connection. In most cases, the PSP will determine the network's encryption automatically. Enter the wireless connection's password if the network is secured.

Name your new wireless connection so that you will be able to identify it in the future and save your settings. Run a test connection to ensure you are able to connect to the Internet through the wireless network.

Press your PSP's "Home" button at the bottom left-hand side of the console. Move your cursor to the right to find the "Network" icon. Select the "Internet Browser" option from the drop-down menu. Press the up directional arrow and press "X" to enter a web address into the browser. Once you enter a web address, your PSP will automatically connect to the Internet using the WiFi connection you set up previously.

PSP WIL NOT WORK..HELP!

If you have no wireless internet inside your house, then you can not get online.
However if you do, then go to the internet browser on the psp and try to search for google or some website. As it tries to connect hit the circle button to cancel the connection then it asks what connection to use. Select new connection and scan for your wireless internet. There may be a password, there may not. But go through everything. If you get through everything, you can have fun on the internet with the 4in. screen now. =D

How to connect my psp to the internet

You need to get to the main menu from wherever you are on your PSP. You can do that by pressing the Home button, a tiny button just to the lower left of the screen. Now you'll want to move left (pressing the "<" button) until you get to Settings, then down (pressing the "V" button) until you get to Network Settings:

Now you'll have two choices: "Ad Hoc" is when you want to connection two PSPs together with any sort of Internet wifi base station / access point involved, and "Infrastructure Mode" is when you connect to your local wifi device. The infrastructure mode is what you want.

You'll probably only have the one choice of New Connection, but if you don't, choose it anyway:

First option is to specify a mnemonic connection name. The default here is "Connection 2" but yours might be "Connection 1", or similar. I recommend you actually enter a different name so you'll be able to remember what location works where.

To enter a new connection name, press the "X" button and you'll get to the "keyboard" screen:

When you're done struggling to enter your selected name :-) move to the green "Enter" box and press the "X" button. Now you'll be ready for the big important step: a Network Scan:

If everything's working well with your device and you've turned on the WLAN switch (How to turn on the PSP WLAN Switch) you'll see the following status message:

Hopefully, you'll see at least one network listed, if not more. If you don't see any networks, then you're out of luck. If the only networks you see have some sort of security setting, either WPA or WEP, then you must know the security password to access that network.
Once you're ready, the next step you'll want to take is to select an access point:

In this case I'm going to select Steve Hardesty since it's the strongest network with the Security setting of "None":

Now you'll have a chance to confirm your security setting from the different choices. Notice that the default is just about always the correct choice, which you can select by pushing the ">" button again and again:

Now you can also step right past the Address Settings:

You'll get a confirmation screen that shows all the settings you've specified:

Press the ">" button again, and you'll be able to save your settings

That's what you'll want to do: press "X".
Now, the most important step in the process - to Test Connection.

You'll most definitely want to do this! Press "X" to start the test...

If your test succesfully passed then you are online. If you failed start from step one.

Please rate my answer. I hope this helps you.

Going on internet with the psp

Hi Tee-roy,

I have to go into my toolbox in the internet screen and delete cookies all the time. It helps in keeping the speed of the internet working faster. IF you are having trouble just connecting, you need to be sure you are using the right Encryption and security settings. I use WEP 64 bit security key encryption on my router. WhenI setup the PSP network connection, I use easy setup. When I get to the point where it asks about security key, I type in the exact 10 digit key I put into my router. You should be able to test and your PSP find an IP address. just be sure to go into the internet screen every once in a while and click on setup toolbox at the bottom right of the internet screen, Delete coookies and other files. This will keep you internetting at faster speeds
