The ps3 turns on wont shut off and there is just a black screen

Does the PS3 turn off?
If it stays on but you have a black screen, is it possible you have your tv set to the wrong channel?
Are you able to hook up your PS3 to another tv...preferably one that you know will work...such as a friend's tv that also has a ps3

You may need to do a hard reset. Hold the power button for 30 secs and then wait a few secs and turn the system on. Hope it helps.

Does it give you an option to start without restore? Another option is to unplug it completely for 30 seconds. Mine sometimes does this too, but shutting it off almost always works

you are getting Black screen While using your ps3 and nothing else Right .................

if you mean only a black screen apear but your ps3 is on easy heres what u do when the red ligth is on put your finger on it untill it turns red again do the same but this time you will hear a pieping noise and again take your finger of when you hear the noise the second time but the second time will make 2 noises nou a screen will apear say restore sestem it is gona take about 2 or more tryse.HOPE IS WAS USEFULL PLZZZ RATE ME.sorry for my spelling i am only 14 and afrikaans.THIS IS THE BEST SOLUTION I PROMAS.if it does not work you have to bay a new hard drive SORRY.

unplug PS3. Wait 10 minutes and turn on.
do the same with the power supply.

Hey did you try a hard reset?
Shut the system off then turn it on.
You should now have the red light on the ps3.
Hold the power on and it will kick green beep then go back to red.
Then try to push power again.
If not it may be the heat transfer compound in the system which is wearing away causing it to over heat and shut down as a safety percaution.

sorry mate i cant fix it but my buddy has a problem with his also
his ps3 freezes even in the menu screen and during video chat it shuts off
